A quick check on the internet showed that hyperplastic polyps do not turn into colon cancer. They are benign polyps. However, as always with "the net" do not self-diagnosis....rely on what your doctor has to offer. Just out of curiosity, what was their facial expression? Worried? Calm?

If there was MAJOR concern, they would have immediately tracked down a doc to tell you what was up, don't you think?

Hi Stacy. Thank you for your reply. I was not in the office. I simply called to see if the results had come in yet. I will be talking to my surgeon or his nurse tomorrow. But, of course I have this little tidbit of info and don't know what to do with it or think about it. So, at this point, not having talked to my surgeon yet, there has been no talk of additional testing. I will know more tomorrow. But, unfortunately, it is tonite...and I am trying really hard not to over-analyze. I just thought I would come onto CSN to see if anyone else had heard the term and help aleviate some of the fear of the unknown. Thanks again. When I find out what it is, I will post it here in hopes it will help someone else in the future.

I think you should wait until you talk to a doctor. So many times they say something and don't know themselves what they are talking about. It is the good general rule not to worry until you have more information and have a basis for it. Right now it does not sound like there is enough information at all. So, please try not to worry until you get more information.

Hi Eleanora. Thank you for the calming advice. I try really hard not to get worked up over things without information. The past 2 weeks have been hard. It started with a CT-Scan that prompted a PET that prompted the colonoscopy. So, anxiety is hard to keep at bay at times like these. I have to say that my boyfriend, God love him, has been so good to me through it all. We are 450 miles apart right now and every free moment he has is spent with me on the phone keeping my mind off things and calming the anxiety. Thank Heaven for unlimited long distance programs! LOL Thank you again for your positivity. Every single bit helps.
