Well...talked to my onco today..we will start chemo again for my recurrance . Tried to get an appt at MD with no luck..it will take another 4 weeks before they can see me, I if I start treatments, then they wont see me at all...don't think i can wait that long. This time they will give me campstar and avastin....no more oxiplatin...the DX was Metastatic moderately differentiated colorectal adenocarcicoma...what I kind of dont like is that to me it really doesn't sound like they are 100 % sure...What do you think about this quote? " The immunophenotypic findings( biopsy) provide strong evidence to support the interpretation of metastatic adenocarcicoma".....is the word "strong" enough to decide that is cancer ?what do you think ???
Thanks and God bless

I would think that having done a biopsy they would be able to tell that it is cancer. Perhaps that is just the wording they use in the pathology reports. I would ask your doctor if he/she thinks it would be OK to wait 4 weeks for a second opinion. On the other hand, would they do the same treatment at MD anyway? How were these mets found, they were in the lymph nodes, correct? Were they seen on a CT scan or could you feel them, or what?
Just curious..
Also, at least when I had 2 lung mets the wording was exactly the same "moderately differentiated adenocarcinoma".
If you do not feel comfortable then I would find out if it is OK to wait for the second opinion.
Take care,

I have an experience reading numerous pathology reports (biopsy is being one of them) and discussing them with doctors. They have never been conclusive. They are only "suggestive". A pathologist is usually playing more or less guessing game. They are looking at a very small sample under a microscope. They can never be 100% sure from biopsy.
Even the whole mass was analyzed by the pathology clinic twice and they could not conclude with 100% certainty whether that mass was benign or malignant.
So, I would not pay attention to these words and proceed with the treatment.
Best wishes for your treatment.0
