Has anyone had colon cancer return with only a symptom of pain in the left side? The pain runs from the hip down to the groin. I have had several x-rays, IVP and cat scan. They did find a kidney stone on the x-rays and got rid of it and diverticulosis showed up on the cat scan. The pain started in july and has not stopped since. Now they are talking about the colon cancer..I am having a colonscopy on thursday. I have been NED for 2 years now. Blood work shows nothing but didn't the first time either. I was just wondering if anyone else went thru this.
Thank you,
Dee

Dee, I don't have any answers for you but I want to let you know that I am thinking of you. I have had pain on my left side that started July 5th as well. At first I thought it might be a kidney stone, but I didn't have one. The CT said it appeared the tail of my pancreas was swollen and now that you mention it, it also said there was some evidence of diverticuli in the colon. Most of my pain has been higher than you describe, but I have had some pain in my hip as well. I am having a colonoscopy done as well(I have colon cancer in my family)but I have to wait until the 27th. Please let me know how everything turns out. I will be thinking of you and waiting to hear how things went.

The thing that has me really worried is that when I was found to have colon cancer in 2004, the doctor said that when the tests came back he was very surprised that it was cancer. He told me it looked like diverticulitis to him. Also, the reason I am having the colonoscopy so fast is because the doctor bumped everyone else down. That concerns me too. BTW, my cancer was found by accident. My appendix had ruptured and it was during surgery that they noticed a hole in my colon.
You will be in my thoughts and prayers Beth.

    Dee,
WOW! What a GREAT DOC you have!!!! They should ALWAYS treat post-cancer patients fast....we have already presented with the beast....catching it fast, after the beast was vanquished, is the key!
I would say he is just being prudent...don't get too phyched out!
My blood work showed nothing, either. CEA was .5...stage III rectal....some tests just don't work for some of us!
Congrats on the scopy! Our own SpongeBob came up with the perfect prep....
If you get Phosphosoda (1 1/2 oz of VERY SALTY stuff), put it in the freezer (It won't freeze), then mix with margarita mix. Don't salt the rim. I then added....and find a firey Latin guy to rub your shoulders...hehehehehe

    Hugs, Kathi

I had pain in the same area and they told him that I have colitus now. However my CEA was still rising even after taking the medicine for the colitus. They found cancer in my stomach a few days ago. So make sure you keep going to the doctor until they find out why you have the pain.

I will not let them stop until they find why I have pain, even if I have to go to another city.

I am sorry to hear about your stomach sue. You will be in my prayers.
