update and question for scouty

just a reminder of where i am. Stage 4 with multiple small lesions on the lungs. i've had foliri with avastin, folfox with avastin, erbitux and camptosar. lesions were growing on the last mix of drugs, so my onc had no other suggestions. just came back from a 2nd opinion from dana farber (had to wait 2 hours for the appt and then found out that my onc office never got the records to them, even though i called to confirm that they did! fortunately i was able to bring the onc up to speed on where i was.) anyway, the good news is that the onc did come up with 3 suggestions. i will be keeping these on the back burner while i continue to pursue the naturopathic regimen. i am feeling terrific right now and am reluctant to go back to chemo. this brings me to my question for scouty and anyone else that may have some insight. when did you have a repeat cat scan after starting the naturopath approach? i'm leaning toward getting one 2 months after starting, but wonder if this is a little soon.

    Hi Mary,

    I was nervous when I first stopped chemo and went the alternative route and opted for 2 months the first time, and every 3 months after that one. If I am still clear on my next scans and colonoscopy, we will probably go to every 6 months since I have become allergic to the CT IV contrast. I wish you the best and please keep me posted on how things go for you. That initial detoxing stage is pretty interesting, not to mention smelly.

    You may want to look into using the alternative form of treatment called Protocel. I read about it in a book "Outsmart your cancer: alternative non-toxic treatments that work" by Tanya Harter Pierce. Protocel is a liquid that can be mixed with juice or water. It works by attacking anaerobic cells of the body, leaving normal healthy cells unharmed. All cancer cells are primarily anaerobic. Protocell attacks anaerobic cells by interfering with their cell respiration so they can not obtain enough enerby to function. Since normal health cells of the body are aerobic and use a different process ot obtain energy via cell respiration, they are not harmed.

    I'm happy your Onc has come up with 3 suggestions that you could look at in addition to the alternative juicing etc..do you mind me asking what the 3 suggestions are? My husband has been responding to the xeloda and oxaliplatin but it is creating havoc with his platelets and his misses more treatments than he can get..so his Onc syas that id his platelets remain low he does not have alot of options..so I would love to know what options your 2nd opinion gave you.

    The 3 options are
    1. Go back on folfox and avastin. (this was actually my idea). I had to stop because it caused liver enzymes to go up, but it was effective. Liver studies are normal now and this onc recommended continuing it even if studies go up. Stay on it til they get to almost dangerous levels. They never really got there, but onc says since i'm running out of options this makes sense.
    2. Resume erbitux and camptosar, but add avastin.
    3. Start an old chemo drug. Not sure of the name...mitomycin...something like that (i'll try to figure out the actual name), with xeloda and avastin.
