Trip to Disney

We made the trip to Disney and to say the least, in my opinion, it was not a good thing to have done. My husband suffered terribly. He was able to enjoy a few things now and thing and I think he is thankful he went but also thankful he's home. He wanted those memories with his daughter so he's happy he went. His pain level is so out of control that he can hardly bear it. We're waiting to hear from the pain management doctor to see what is reccomended at this point. They are considering a permanent epidural with a pump to see if they can give him some relief. I certainly appreciate all your concern and prayers. Please continue praying - I am so frightened of losing him and also seeing him suffer as he is. They postponed the PET/CT scans that were scheduled today until Monday (an insurance thing - you know how that goes). He then sees the oncologist at Indiana University Hospital on Tuesday. I have no idea what happens after that. For now, I just want to see him get some relief from the pain. Again, thanks everyone!

I am so glad that your husband's wish was fulfilled and he was able to make some memories with his daughter. I pray that his pain gets under control very quickly.

    Thinking of you,

Indy - I am glad your husband and daughter were able to make memories even if the trip was difficult. Good luck in your search for pain relief - and don't be afraid to contact hospice - experts often come up with better resolutions than do generalists. The epidural sounds promising. Often they have a "patient assisted pump" so the patient can give themselves an extra jolt every once in a while (pump is programmed to prevent overdosing). Also, if epidural pain meds can control the pain, they won't have a systemic - e.g. brain, night sweat etc. effect. So, it does sound worthwhile to look into this.

    In my thoughts....

Indy, Although your husband suffered most of the time at Disney, I'm glad he was able to go for his daughter. I'm so sorry that he is suffering right now and hope they find an answer for it real quick.

You are all in my prayers.

Oh, my dear, how I am hugging you. You have such a hard road.

Memories are VERY important...and I'm sure hubby is glad he has given this one to both you and his daughter.

I send up a prayer every night for both of you.

    Hugs, Kathi

Well, I'm glad that you made the trip, but sorry to hear that it didn't go as well as you had hoped. Hopefully, once this pain is under control, your husband will begin to feel better. Of course, you are always in my prayers.
