Thank you, everyone, for your very kind thoughts. In my quest for the answer to 'Why?', I received my answer back...."Because". I was playing a self-elected "Joan of Ark of Cancer". I guess I just felt like a child feels...if you work hard enough, believe strong enough...the victory will be yours. I was forgetting one of my basic beliefs....
We all have a task list in this life. We do not know what is on it, how far we are on it, or when we will be finished and returned to ashes. It is NOT our job to figure this out, just accept that when our list is complete, we are complete. With that faith, and the warm hugs from all of my friends here, I am able to pick up and go on.
Hugs to my family....
Kathi

    Hi Kathi,

So insightful. I do hope my list is far from complete.

Strength, courage and wisdom - it's been inside of you all along. ( anyone know this song?)

    Love, my friend,

We all wonder why. I am just glad it is me and not someone else in my family. There may be some purpose but we will never know. Before this all came about I thought the last thing I would ever want is a colostomy. Now that I have one I think it isn't so bad, there are actually some advantages ( I never have to worry about a dirty toilet seat) and maybe I am supposed to show that one can live a normal life with it. The main thing is, for me, that I realized that the most important thing is to continue to enjoy living. If we think about all the bad things we are not enjoying life.

I've been out of town at the beach in Ft. Walton with family. Just got back and I'm trying to catch up. I read your post and I must say that we all struggle with wanting to run the show and having things go our way. Then when I said The Lord's Prayer, I realized that it says "Thy will be done." Gee, that makes all the difference. I wish you good luck with this fight and will pray all goes well. hugs to you, jams
