Hi everyone! I have a question.....I have Hasimoto's Thyroiditis, and have been on Synthroid for years. Every now and then, I have to adjust my dose because of fluctuations of my TSH levels. I am half way through my chemo (5FU/Leucovorin). Can 5FU affect TSH levels? I saw my endocrinologist today, and she says my TSH is way up again.....Just wondering....

Hi: I've been on synthroid for years. During Chemo I've been taking my synthroid and haven't had any TSH testing done. It is noted on my file that I take Synthroid - but encologist doesn't seem concerned.,

Crap! Another reason I might not want to do chemo as I suffer from hypothyroid and am on both Synthroid and Cytomel. I'll keep an eye on this thread to see if anyone has been effected by chemo in this way.

Hi! I have been on synthroid for about 15 years for Hashimoto's thyroiditis. When I took the chemotherapy last year (folfox: oxaliplatin, 5 FU, and leucovorin) my oncologist said they would check my TSH from time to time since the chemo can alter the status quo. The synthroid never needed to be adjusted in my case but I would definitely get your TSH level checked and have the dosages adjusted as needed.
