Since Chris's stage IV dx 7/7 (recurrence from stage II in '03) he's been through enough hell, damn it. He's only 36 years old and having to face this, now his port developed an abscess, he had to have it removed yesterday. The beast is in his spine, inoperable and they can't radiate. They won't restart chemo until he's healed from the port removal/infection but because he just received Avastin, that could take some time since Avastin causes difficulty in healing.
He was so hoping for chemo to relieve his excruciating back pain, now I don't know when he will get relief. I feel so angry, I wish cancer were a living breathing entity and we could collectively knock it's flippin lights out!!!!AArrrghhhh!!!!
OK, I already feel better. Tomorrow we'll fight some more. Good night.

I'm sooo glad you feel better...I'll kick the beast once more for good measure!!!!
I had a 'staff meeting' right after my diagnosis (my body parts being the staff). I told the beast that it wasn't welcome, that it could leave quietly, on it's own, and all would be forgiven. BUT if it stayed...it would be in for the FIGHT OF ITS LIFE!!!! So, sigh...it stayed...and I KICKED its behinder!!!!

    Hugs, Kathi

You rock Kathi, thank you! I haven't always been able to follow up on the wonderful support I've received from you and others on this board, but I've read them all and I appreciate you so much and send hugs right back at ya!!!

You might want to get a second opinion regarding Chris's situation. I would recommend the following: MD Anderson (Houston), Dana-Farber (Boston), and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (New York). You never know if these tumors in his spine have been removed with advanced techniques. What about a neurosurgeon? My prayers and thoughts are with you all. Terri

    Misha -

You said it all when you said, "Tomorrow we'll fight some more. "

As Winston Churchill put it; "Never give up, never give up, never give up."

Keeping you and Chris in my thoughts and prayers.
