My dad has colon cancer with liver mets.He is on FOLFOX + Avastin for 1 year now. He just finished his 24th treatment. His white and red blood cells are pretty low and they are looking into giving him just Avastin for a while. Did anybody experienced something similar? Do you know of anything that can boost his immune system? I heard of Oncolyn...Anybody used it? He is 66 years old and his liver tumors are still showing at the cat scan...He was told that they will continue his chemo as long as he can tolerate it. Sorry to be so disorganized in my thoughts but ...Thanks and good luck to everybody! L

Hi Luvic,
I'm also enemic and have low wbc. At this time they give me a shot for the enemia but I'm also taking a mega dose of iron twice a day. (325mg) You can get this one pill dose by talking to your pharmasist. For the low wbc, I'm on neulasta. Others have taking Nuprogen for this too. I only have to take the neulasta once every two weeks after my treatment. Good luck and hugs to your dad.

Hi,
I have never heard of oncolyn. Is that a supplement? My dad usually gets injections of procrit for red blood cells and neulasta for white blood cells when his levels are low. Have they tried that with your dad? Have they given your dad a break from chemo? Maybe that's what he needs. My dad has liver mets also. Please e-mail me if you have any questions.
