MRI OF ABDOMEN NED
FRANTIC

Hi everybody. I had my MRI of the abdomen done on WED.nite to determine why my pancreatic enzymes continue to rise since May 30th. My oncoligist stated all was clear in that there were no focal lesions in the pancreas, liver, adrenals or kidneys. THANK GOD. How ever the lipase which is a pancreatic enzyme continues to rise into the 700's which is high and the amylase which is another enzyme from the pancreas continues to rise in the 200's. My liver enzymes are also elevated. I now have another appt. with the GI DR. on July 3 and also am having a petscan on MOnday. From what I understand the petscan can pick up cell activity if there is an inflamed area . I hope they get to the bottom of this. I told my DR. I will take pancreatits over re-occurance of the beast any day. I explained to him that the illeostomy on the right side is consistently expellling watery and gassy stools. So something is definetly going on. The petscan should show if any activity in the pelvic area as this is where the cancer originally started in MAy of 2003. The wait and see game is still a mystery. Hope everybody has a good day today.

Fran,
That sure sounds like good news to me... that your MRI was clear.. I will keep my fingers crossed for you, and send good vibes your way for Monday. Hopefully they will get to the bottom of this mystery. If you have written to me on my email here, I know I have 5 unread messages, but when I try to get them, my computer shuts down! Please let me know how the Pet scan turns out, as always your friend in PA

Fran,
EVERY negative scan is a VICTORY, no matter how big or small....
YEA YEA YEA YEA YEA!
Interesting that we now HOPE that we have something else that most people would be DEVASTATED with....I did the same with my hip...I would rather have it be a broken hip than the beast returning for an encore! Its all a matter of perspective!

I am happy for you for good MRI results. This is great news!
And wish you same results for PET scan. I am also glad that your doctors do not give up. Something is going on. I am wondering - if you are on chemotherapy - maybe it causes all these enzymes to go up?
Best wishes for scan.

Hi Fran -
This is great news. I know you still have issues to be concerned about and I hope they will get to the bottom of this, but this clean MRI is still great news. I am sending good vibes for the upcoming PET. Keep us posted.
Take care,
