I am 7 weeks out from my final chemo treatment and am still having problems with a fungus on my tongue. I am on my 3rd round of anti fungal medicine. Any suggestions out there from anyone?

Go and post a thread on the colorectal board....you will get alot of good advice there, as well as here...
Never had that particular challenge, but I'm sending great vibes to you!

    Hi LoVonna,

I did not have a fungus on my tongue after chemo (is it thrush?), but I did have a sore that would not heal. (I had terrible mouth sores from the chemo.) I freaked out! I went to the dentist and he prescribed a mouthwash for me. It stained my teeth, but it worked. My mouth was completely healed. It was called chlorhexidine gluconate and you need a prescription for it.

    Hope you feel better soon.

    Hugs.

I had lots of sours in my mouth and Biotene Mouthwash helped alot. You can find it at most drug stores. Don't know if it will help or not... But may be worth a try.

And Yes It sounds like it is Happy Dance time.... No more Chemo...

    Good for you.

Thanks ladies. My doc has called me in another perscription to try, just picked it up.

As far as the happy dance, my happy dance came early, good news/bad news situation. Made it through 3 treatments out of 6. Blood cell counts were good, but my blood pressure was dangerously low and my oncologist decided my body was not tolerating well so stopped the treatments.

This board has been great, very encouraging to read from others.

    God Bless you all,

    LoVonna
