Bummer!
Have you ever experienced this? What prep did you use?

I have always used a prescription of either Go-Litely or something with a similar name.
Before my surgery, my surgeon ordered that on top of some OTC (can't remember what exactly) of "cleaner" AND enema's. I thought this was a bit of overkill (especially since I should have still been clean from my scope) but I know she wanted it CLEAN.
I do know that some just use the OTC stuff, though.
I believe that some stuff will sometimes remain in your colon just from your stomach giving off waste and it looks like either yellow or green bile. I think I had some both times and my gastro's both said that it was normal for some to remain. Maybe it was just because she couldn't remove it?
One year isn't so bad. Just think of it as extra insurance. If there is anything, it won't have three years to grow but only one. I guess I try to find the positive in each bad thing.
I would ask about the go-litely or half-litely for next time, maybe. I'm sure you followed the directions and did everything exactly right it just wasn't the right "cleaner" for you.

Hey, Susan. Went for my first post-crc colonoscopy...I threw up 3/4 of the phosphosoda, and still I prevailed! The secret is MAJOR water drinking...
I was also told 1 year instead of 3, but not because of non cleaning, just as a real good precaution since I just became NED....don't be too discouraged...look at the fact that no large polyps mean that there is less chance of cancer...just look at the goodness of the day.

I had a similar experience with a past procedure; I can't remember the prep, but I just finished a 10 day "cleansing" and diet program in CA, and in addition to a colon detox, we drank diluted sea water-(boiled) every day. I guarantee that this will clean you out! They get regular sea water, boil it, and dilute it-(10/1, I think..)
Anyway, if you want to inquire about her colon clense products and procedures, I know she would be happy to talk with you and/or send you information about prep. Her name is Mary Ann Jones, and the e-mail is caringforyou@cedarbrookhome.com, and the website is www.cedarbrookhome.com
You may also be able to buy the purified seawater at the Anchorage health food store-(?)0 -
Hi Susan,
I did the halflyte since my daughter works in a drug store and said that was better then the regular. Another thing you might want to do if you are nervous there is a bowel cleanser that I'm going to try after chemo called "Renew Life". Here is the url: http://www.renewlife.com/shop/index.html. I found a healthfood store I can get it at. I'm doing it just to be cautious. Don't want anything in my colon. I think you should be glad nothing was found and just work on a good diet until the next colonoscopy. Take care and HUGS.

Well, that was the reason that I did all the prep on Wed. I took the first bottle at 9am and then the second one at 3 pm. I did not eat anything at all after midnight. I was all done pooping by 7pm and didn't go again after that. My colonoscopy was actually at 2pm yesterday (Thursday). So maybe all that time inbetween allowed bile to build up on my colon wall - or else it was the yellow jello? Anyway, I know it is not that big a deal to have to go again in a year (or less), but it is just frustrating that I was not clean and pink!! Maybe next time I should not do it so far in advance and spend the night in Anchorage instead??unknown said:This comment has been removed by the Moderator

GREAT idea, guys. The night before my resection, I stayed at the Doubletree Inn. I told one of the staff why I was there, and at about 9pm, there was a knock on the door, and there stood one of the staff, with a 'good luck' card signed by everyone working that night...I'll never forget that...AND the hospital was just down the street!unknown said:This comment has been removed by the Moderator

Hi Sue. Good to hear that you were clear....has a ring to it, don't it. I am sure that if your doc. had any reservations she would have ordered another prep. and colonoscopy. Doing the preps are no fun but I agree with others here that another in 12 months might be a chore but will certainly be good surviellance for you.KathiM said:GREAT idea, guys.
