Hi everyone!
I was wondering is any of you semi colons have had healing touch massage or any other types of massage in dealing with chemo. I have been doing healing touch and it has helped me so much in as I fight with the nausea and fatigue. There have been some studies that have proven the benefits of theraputic massage with cancer patients. Terri

I have been getting massages ever since I was first diagnosed, about 2x/month at least. I agree that it is wonderful and I highly recommend it to anyone. There is a school of thought that massage can help move cancer cells around the lymphatic system, however, especially if you are on chemo I think that is hog wash. I do not know how I would have dealt with the stress of being a cancer patient without it, honestly!

I have been getting massages most of my adult life. I find them relaxing and energizing at the same time. I once tried a shiatsu (deep tissue, had to beg her to stop...) but only do swedish...only minor trouble since I was dx...my port is positioned just so that it grinds into the table when I'm on my tummy...BUT, a small pillow fixes that, too....

I get regular massage for back problems, but recommend it for everyone, regardless of health problems or lack of them. It provides a totally relaxing response and the physical touch we all need so much. I think everyone should get massage every day-we would probably live twice as long..

    Hi Terri,

I have actually done two things. I was doing Accupuncture which helped. I have since started Reiki treatments which are more amazing then the accupuncture. I believe it helps with the chemo issues and helps relax me. It also helps some other issues like the bloodclot in my arm to stop aching. I like it but it might not be for everyone. It is just laying on of hands, no "massage" done. She does do hot stone massage too but I am fine with the regular Reiki. Take care.
