To Emily - End of Life

I believe, believe, believe. What we are goes on, and those that have gone before us, guide out steps and watch over us.

Just got back from ReLay for Life...what an event. Did the overnight shift of 2:00 a.m. to 6:30 a.m. Found all my luminaries except one...my moms!!!! Last year, I found all of them in my first lap. I went looking and looking and couldn't find it. Now my mom's name is not that common and long at that, so it shouldn't have been a problem, right? Well, it was. So I kept walking, talking to her, and asking her to guide me to her luminary. A short while into my walk, Bert joined me and we proceeded to do several laps together. He had to go but said he would get me a coffee before he left so I wouldn't have to leave the track. I kept going and met up with him and just as he handed me the coffee, there it was, her luminary, glowing brightly in the night for both of us to see and in such an obvious place, I can't figure out for the life of me how I missed it. I choose to believe that mom waited for the two of us to be at the same place and same time to let us know that she is watching over both of us. I love you mom and miss you terribly.

AW, Monika...I, too was at a Relay yesterday...my eyes 'leaked' quite often. But yours is a story I hear that touchs me deeply. I still have my mom..she had sucessfully found the beast twice...and I hug her every time I see her....
Relays are quite something, aren't they...all of them I have attended really have touched my soul.
    Hugs, Kathi

    Hi Monika,

I agree with Kathi. Everyone on the site should at least attend one. They are awsome. Even if you don't walk it is wonderful to see so many people doing something to work for a cure for all of us. I also "leaked" at the two I went to and I'm doing it now thinking about it.

You story is great too Monika. I'm sure your mom was watching from above and picked just the right time to show you how much she still loves you.

    Take Care and HUGS!!!

At the CP-3 we attend the Relay for Life here in Austin. What a moving experience to be together for this event. We had lots of tears of joy.

    MONIKA!!!!!!

Girl I have not talked to you in a ****'s age!!

That's such a cool story. I think those things happen for exactly that reason--so we can feel their presence.

Even know after 14 years I will get a tear in my eye missing my sister and wanting her to be here with me so I just talk to her as if I can see her. oh well. I tell her I miss her. Sometimes I'm pissed at her. But that fuels the passion for health and keeping cancer free. That sister rivalry! I gotta do it better!

My mom and dad were able to attend a Relay For Life with me before I moved up here and my mom had to leave during the survivors walk (after I had walked past) because she was doing a little more than having leaky eyes! I couldn't blame her. Two young daughters and one gone and one walking.

I don't how anyone can get through one of those with a dry eye.

peace, emily who gets lonely on that survivors lap
