I am a 3 year breast cancer survivor,50 and now my wbc is going crazy.Has this happened to anyone else? Is this something to be afraid of,because I am. Or, is maybe someting simple going on.I am afraid that it might be the cancer coming back.Any advice?

    Hi Teresa,

There are many reasons for an increase in WBC including stress or even some drugs such as aspirin. Further tests or more symptoms will be needed to jump to the conclusion that something is seriously wrong. When will you see the dr to discuss this? Please don't worry yet.

Enjoy the lovely weather. Take a walk. Paint a picture. Sew a quilt.

    Hugs.

I agree, and if that doesn't work, go into a closet, close the door, and have a good screaming cry!!!!! (heheehhehe)

It bears at least another blood test, tho. One time my WBC was WAY UP...LoonyLab (pet name for Unilab, my lab guys)had left the sample out in the HEAT too long, for goodness sakes! I felt like asking THEM for a sample...then putting something scary in it for THEM to test....grrrrrr!

I am sorry you have to face more of the uncertainty that exists. I have since learned we do what we can and that is be our own best advocates and if things continue to bother us we have to get the medical support and tests are good. I too have seen the fear take over often at times of vaulanerability and I too have moments still after all these years. One thing is for sure that worry and fear keep us stuck and unable to live the lives we were intended.
Don't get me wrong I had times when I felt I would never get well after one thing or another and even the doctors saying there was little hope. I instead was determined to have quality to my life no more no less and that has brought me places I had never been.
YOU stay on it and get the answers you need and if you have Doctors that are listening you are in a very good place.
