My sister in law went in for her liver resection today. They found lymph involvement & removed all of that & want to wait for the resection. She got her pump, and an Ileo -reversal, so that is 2 out of 3. She is still in recovery, and it just feels like it will be a real let down for her, as well as my brother. They will monitor the response to the pump, & the surgeon is very encouraging about this. He doesn't want them to see this as negative, but it's scary. I'm looking for any encouraging stories of any stg VI's who've gone thru this hurdle? I did send a note to Rodney, thanks in advance, Rodney. What can I say, I am not even the patient. I just want to bring some hope into their new situation. We all wanted that blasted liver out of there.
Thank you all for your constant sharing.
You are all invaluable,
Liz

    Hi,

My father went through liver resection too last week. He has a pump put in too. He was diagnosed 11/05 stage 4 with liver mets and 5 lymph nodes, colon resection in December, went through 8 rounds of chemo on Avastin, Oxilaplatin and Xeloda. Then liver resection and pump about a week ago. Dad seems to be doing fine. I think the Reishi and Maitake really help him. Please let us know how your sister-in-law is doing. Sorry that I cannot offer encouraging stories, since my dad is new to this too. But at least you know someone in similar situation a week ahead.

Hang on a minute....I have to put on my super hero costume....

    OK, here goes...

This is FAR from a set back! Detection is key, and the fact that the docs are smart enough to find anything new and creeping around is actually a GOOD sign. It's the stuff they don't find that pulls a surprise ambush and creates problems. I was stage 4 with 2 positive nodes and liver also swarming with issues. Today, all clear, and will celebrate 5 yrs clear this October. THERE IS HOPE! Every day she is here is another day further from diagnosis and closer to cured. There are SO many positive stories here, and everyone knows the importance of sharing their experiences to help ease others with theirs. I was diagnosed at age 33 with 3 kids under age 8. They gave me the drive to get through this. She will too.

    Best of every day ahead,
    Stacy

Hi Liz, I agree with Stacey. Please tell your brother and sister in law to keep a positive look on all of this. I am Stage 4 and try to keep a positive outlook which at times is hard to do but then I laugh at something that one of the grandchildren has done and the positive vibes come right back to me. Please know that I will keep all of you in my thoughts and prayers..Audrey
