cherriann;
Get a second opinion and find a hospital and doctor that has done the "J-Pouch" procedure another name is resection surgery. I was at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh PA, Colon and Rectal Surgery, Dr. Cellebreeze. He specializes in this procedure. It is dependent on the location of the cancer and if they can save muscles in that area. There was a person who was diagnosed like you (colostomy) he went to my doctor and was able to get the resection procedure. With the resection, it is using a bag for 3 months then the opening is closed and then things begin to flow normally. Because of my aggressive exercise program and good healing the procedure worked. This group has done many of these procedures. It is worth finding out a second opinion. Go on the internet and research j-pouch or resections for rectal cancer. Just call 412-359-3901. Or Dr. Medich is one of the top surgeons in that practice (he is well know across the country).0
