Hi Again, I finished treatment in July 05. I had the Fol-Fox-6: Oxaliplatin,5FU,leucovorin,and added Avastin,I attribute the Avastin to my recovery! It shuts off the blood flow to the tumor, and my side effects were slightly mild, well no walk in the park but I handled them, mainly, the sensitivity to cold was awful for a few days right after treatment, and of course no food likes or taste. Nose bleeds and mouth sores, which only got really bad once. I kept real good care of mouth. My nails got very brittle and anxiety level high., But my oncologist was so pleased because you really could not tell I was someone going thru chemo, no hair loss(like I cared)yet there are so many wierd side effcts you cannot count them. I was a night owl during them too, but I blame that on the aniexty. no weeping eyes this time. Ya see I did chemo 1 yr before with a different oncologist & treatment.I was first dx in 2003, had bowel resection, 6 months of chemo then had a scare, we thought it went to my overies, Total hystretomy, no cancer there. I had had re-occurance but am doing great now. Until recently like l;ast month I just got my energy back, that is one thing I noticed, the tired-ness, lack of stamina, like I used to have. Which I still get pooped easily. Hope this has helped. Avastin!! It is a life saver!! I cannot say enough about it, and now they say it is helping with Lung ca & others not just colon. better go I can write forever...........we'll be in touch Amyjerseysue said:Can I ask how long since your chemo? I'm also stage 4 and I like to hear all the good stories on stage 4.
