Hi to everyone. My husband just returned home from his chemo treatment ....he is currently doing 5fu.....4 treatments, one week one/3off. This is his second treatment. They did his bloodwork on friday and when he went in this morning they needed to redo it because they said something was low, however after redoing it today they said it had come back up. Now my question is this. The dr. said that from the bloodwork, something did not seem right with his liver (was operated on in Jan. and no spread to anywhere, and no lymph node involvment.)Mike told the dr. he had a ct. scan last week so she looked at that and said the liver was just enflamed and it was nothing to worry about, they do not even treat that, and she could not even say why it was enflamed. She said they were sending him for a bone scan just to make sure but she was not concerned. Anybody out there that can help would be great. thanks...just scared that there is more

Just want to encourage you in asking the doc to have an MRI of liver. I had a CT scan, and ultra sound and showed nothing. two weeks later after my colonoscopy showed a tumor in my colon, they did an MRI. This showed multiple tumors in my liver. I think sometimes the doctors rush to much. It would not have mattered in my case. The liver already had the tumors. It just helped to have the correct dz. They told me at first there was something about my liver but did not know what. The ultra sound and CT were not read correctly. After the MRI I could move on to treatment for my liver. I now am cancer free after two surgries, 35 radiation treatmenst and 7 months of chemo. But right now I am cancer free. If, I did not have the MRI, who knows? So I suggest from a patient perspective, ask for an MRI, or PET scan. They should show what is going on about your husbands liver.
I want you to know that I will be praying for you and your husband, and please be encoourged, not discouraged.0 -
A friend of mine had the same thing and had to do a master liver cleanse. You need a doctor to do this that is experienced and knowledgable in this area from what I understand. Jim used www.healthyalternatives.net dr june meymand
He has been fine since doing this cleanse and the chemo has worked better and he is back to work and feeling good. I hope this helps.0 -
Hi Sylvia -
I can sure understand why you are worried. But, I also wanted to add that while I was biopsied last June as definitely Stage IV with one liver met, my liver function tests (of which I have had more than I care to count) always come back perfect. So if you can have known metastatic disease and get "beautiful" liver function tests, you can also probably have "suspicious liver function tests" and NOT have metastic disease.
Getting a PET also really sounds like the right thing to do if that has not already been done.
Besty wishes
