I'm 19 years old and my dad was diagnosed with lymphoma last july. he went into remission for about two months but now its back and very aggressive. I just feel really alone right now. None of my friends understand and I just don't feel like I have anyone to talk to. I'm just looking for some support from people who know how it feels to be so scared all of the time. If anyone has any suggestions at all I would love it. Thanks

As I am going trough by battles with this dastardly villain of a disease, I marvel at the strength I get from my caregiver. I am sure there are times she suffers more than I, and would like to kick me down the road! Being 19 will not make the future any easer for you to handle, but your Dad certainly needs you. There is nothing wrong with being scared. If you were not, you could not do the job. Hang in there and make the best of the time you have together. I guarantee your love for each other will only grown stronger.0

Hi, Rachel-I'm so sorry you're family is going thru this. I got cancer at 38 with a 13 yr old and a 10 year old. I know they were both very scared. I think it helped them that we didn't hide things. sounds like you know what's going on, but does your family talk about how sad/scared you all are?
I wonder if your area has support groups for teens who have a sick parent. I live near D.C. and there are free groups through hospitals, churches synogoges an other groups.
Again, I'm so sorry you are facing this. I hope you have 1 friend who WILL listen. Of course she/he can't fully understand, but a friend will try to understand, and offer you there presence.
Take care,
