Results from Scan and RFA results today

Hi guys,
Recep: Dad was Stage 3 with 11 out of 19 lympnodes in March 2004 a year later he got two small liver mets.

His scan from Feb. 2 came back with no mets except they are concerned about the lesion in the liver was 1.8 x1.6 cm last April and now it's 3.4 x 2.1 cm, we just hope it's cause of the liver ablation. We are headed off to Montreal today (21/2 hours from Ottaw) to see if the procedure work. My dad won't be coming, but I am hoping to have good results to share with him, he's been trough so much, like all of you. You are the strongest people I know. Have any of you ever had liver ablation (RFA) before and if so, was it succesful, where they any more spreads after the procedure? Your replies are as always appreciated.     Hi- can you please let me know where your Dad went for the liver ablation- I am from Ontario and I wasn't aware that this procedure was available in Canada.

    Hello, yes I have had ablation of liver mets and yes it was succesful. I have been NED for almost 1 1/2 years. My tumors were fairly small, about 1 cm, but from what I know, they have been succesfull with tumors up to 5 cm. Mike

    Hi. My husband had a liver resection and a liver ablation in 12/2005. His surgeon was David Geller ---Dr. Geller is an artist in liver surgery. He is amazing with his skills. He has a web site that you might want to check out--you can actually see a video of a radio frequency liver ablation and there is loads of "liver" info and many of the latest techniques practiced.     Dash, Did your husband have chemo before the ablation? How was the recovery time? My friend has had rectal surgery (successful) but now they want to blast him with three kinds of chemo for a cancerous spot they found on his liver. He's only 120 lbs and I'm afraid he won't survive this. His oncologist doesn't recommend the ablation - he just doesn't know enough about it. Please share any info you can about the procedure. I found a clinical trial that will pay for everything but convincing my friend is not going to be easy. He is weak and depressed and vulverable to his doctors here in L.A. Thanks!

    Sorry for not responding earlier, my dad passed away yesterday at the Hull hospital.

    His liver ablation was done in Montreal by Doctor Peter Metrakos. Hope this helps, let me know if you need the phone number, he did a great job on my dad, my dads cancer had spread to his abdomen, that why he passed away, the liver ablation was succesfull.

    Hi dash,
    My husband and I will be going to talk to DR. Marsh, another doctor in the same practice. My husband wasn't a candidate for the surgery last year, but now he may be eligible. He has completed over a year of chemo with some success. We're excited about the surgery, but also very afraid. Was the recovery long or painful? We go in for a consult next week. I hope your husband continues to do well.
