Hello out there is any one still staying tired this month makes three years since I had my second surgery and I went through a total of 4 Chemo treatments April of 2003 through June of 2003 and I still stay tired . Nothing helps I try to take my dog for two mile walks and I still get tired very easy. What is the best exersize that we can get to loose weight. Does anyone get down like I do because you are tired all the time.

I went years probably 5 all together where my health never improved and I was feeling much like I did before diagnosed. It is hard getting up in the morning constantly noseated and in pain.
I use to hear this years ago where woman were constantly ignored and often medicated to get through depressions. Instead they might want to treat us for the side effects that treatments cause some of us. It took me years to get them to address the side effects because quite frankly it was easier to treat anxiety and depression instead of treating the diseases left from my miracle cure.
I too had to admit my stake in this and do whatever I could to bring the Quality back into my life. I wrote a speech about this and can be found on my site if that would help you see what can happen to us. My pain specialist at the time and still is mine, asked me to speak because of the years I suffered and was ignored. She wanted the medical community inside and outside the cancer community to hear what happens to women mostly. Men are often heard louder than we are. I found throwing a fit effective after awhile and finally help came my way.
I too had to shed weight and through my extended health at time got a trainer though I was seasoned athlete and I have been in the best shape possible. Part of my realizations came from accepting what I was doing just wasn't working hence cancer and the Quality for my life was more important than anything or what was all this for...
Be good to yourself always

Hi Marilyn
Just want you to know that you are not alone. I am two years out and have noticed that my energy levels have improved but if I do work or play that requires a lot of energy I still end up feeling exhausted the next day. Sometimes I am so tired I don't even want to cook or look after the dog. I suspect that things will continue to get better but that progress will probably be slower than I might wish. For myself, I have just tried to accept this new reality and make the best of it. If I am really tired I give myself permission to sleep. I understand your frustration and resulting depression but I have found that trying to force issues where my physical body is concerned sometimes makes things worse. Try to give yourself a little extra rest during your recovery period. I think that the recovery period from cancer treatment is MUCH longer than we would like.
What I have found works for me is long walks even when I don't want to go. I have paired that with eating more stir fries, salads and less fat and have found that it helps to control my weight as well as improve my mood. Don't know whether you will find the same thing but I wish you the best. Don't lose hope..I swear that things will get better.0 -
I totally understand your frustration. (As we all do, I'm sure).... But one of the ladies in my Breast Cancer Liason Center told me they are just now finding out the the Thyroid can be affected with chemo. I told my doctor about it and now he adds it to my 3 month checkup. Even though many of you on this website, of which I really admire, have gone through so much more than myself.
So because of the fatigue, they found out just recently, at least in San Diego, CA... that more women are finding this out and being able to treat the Thyroid. Just a suggestion.
Hang in there! At 7 months recovery Taxotere A/C/radiation, I still look forward to a year, but that time will tell. And with time the more we learn.

Sorry if this comes out twice. Hit a key by mistake. Did chemo late 1999 and radiation Jan 2000. I was tired for the longest time - thought it would never end. Chemo and radiation take a lot out of you and the body is slow to heal, especially if you are older, like me. Being so tired is also a sign of depression. You said you felt down because you are so tired. The two go hand in hand. Please talk to your doctor. I was suicidal about six months after all my treatments (the whole ordeal of the worry, going through the treatments, dealing with family issues, trying to keep my job, and forced menopause because of chemo) and dr put me on antidepressants. I felt so much better after a couple of weeks. If you are on any medication, that could also be part of your tiredness. Walking with my dog was the best for losing weight plus eating healthier than I was before. Took me down 40 lbs in about a year. 2-miles may be doing too much right now. Try doing only 30 minute brisk increments instead of 2 miles at one time. Increase it a little each week as you are feeling better. Let me know how you are doing. Ang0
