got my ct results

hello all. got my ct results on fri. the long and short of it is that my onc called it improved when he thought it would go the other way. some of the tumor have grown and some got smaller, which i guess the ones that grew have learned to outsmart the chemo. i have 2 in the right lung and still several in the left. the one in my sternum has shrunk, the lymphs are still the same, the airway in my lower left lung has opened up. we are going to keep me on the fulfiri until it stops working completely. there is only one more treatment after this and that is it. i still am hopeful and will fight this disease with all i know how to do, but there has to be a better way. i admit i am wore out since i have either had a major surgery or chemo since 2002, i continue to know that God will lead and guide me and give me the strength i need. if what i am doing gives me even one more day with my kids then it is worth it to me. i would go through surgery or whatever i have to do to add one more day for my kids. i am a survivor and i plan to live up to that word. i was thinking of going to sloan too but at this point i cant see them saying anything different than mayo. thanks in advance for your words of encouragment and advice.

Nettie - overall it sounds like positive news. You are a fighter and an inspiration to us all. Keep thinking about those kids - they really make the fight worthwhile.

Hiya Nettie. It sounds like your expectations before the CT were fairly low and now with this news we hope that you have been uplifted a little. We have been talking a long time gal and if I recall there were many, many times that your faith began to wain somewhat. From your post I see you coping much better than you have often in the past. So good to hear that you have continued to fight strongly and that these results at least show some positive results. Good on yah gal!Keep your spirits up Nettie. Huggs from oz...Ross and JenBetsydoglover said:Nettie - overall it sounds like positive news. You are a fighter and an inspiration to us all. So glad to hear that some of the tumors have gotten smaller - that is good. I really admire your spirit, which shone through your message. I have two kids and feel the same way you do: whatever it takes for me to have more time with them, I will do it.
Best wishes,

Hi Nettie. You are living up to being a survivor! Every day and moment you continue to fight gives more time with your wonderful family - and gives scientists time to discover new treatments... and cure.
You are always in my heart. I hope you continue to live with the strength and hope you give to others.
Take care of yourself and know we are all with you, by your side in this massive battle.

Hi Nettie:
Any shrinkage is awesome news..you mentioned that there is only 1 more treatment after Folfiri,,not sure what you have been on before but what about xelox...erbitux with or without irinotecan(CPT 11- camptosar)...panitumumab...srt(for liver mets) and hoepfully one of the un-named numbered drugs that are in clinical trials as we speak...someone on this site awhile back had a great statement in that "it is not over until you quit breathing..so - breathe...just breathe...

I'm glad that things are slightly better for you and I honestly think that if we can stay relatively strong and healthy for a short time that there's great hope in the offing. I hope and believe that soon cancer will be a chronic but not fatal disease (and look at the strides already- most people diagnosed with the big "C" make a full recovery). Think diabeties but cancers' insulin will be a sophisticated and easy to tolerate antibody/chemo. Hope that you keep your spirits up and I'll be thinking of you. Jo0

Hi Nettie,
As a new dx semi-colon I want to say you are an inspiration to me. I hope I have half the strength of you after dealing with this for 3 years. I like the saying that Bev put in her post and will use it often now because it is so true. "it is not over until you quit breathing..so - breathe...just breathe..." Continue to say that in your head since like me you are doing this for your kids. They are a great reason to keep on fighting. Hugs and Take Care.
