Well my dad had is 1 1/2 year follow up ct scan from stage 3 colon cancer and everthing looks good - i think. let me try to explain. He evidently has a tiny new nodule in the right upper lung that wasn't there when he was first diagnosed in 7/04. In reading the last ct scan dated 9/21/05 it read this: the 2 previously described nodular densities are unchanged compared to previous study. however when reevaluated with 1.4mm thin cuts they were shown to be related to the fissures and therefore not likely to be pulmonary nodules.

Does anyone know what fissures are????

I did speak to the radiologist yesterday and he did make me feel better by telling me not to worry and that he bets his mortgage that it's absolutely nothing.

Still i worry though....

Any thoughts guys??

    Hey Susana,
    Don't worry about it, spots tend to appear from time to time. If you and I had a scna every 6 months I'm sure spots would show up on us! Read Maria's post, a couple posts before yours. Her doctors thought her colon cancer spread to the liver because spots showed up on her scans and after the pathology report came back they weren't cancer!!!

    My mom has a spot on her liver that showed up on one of her follow ups - not cancer.

    Your dad is cancer free! Enjoy it!

    Susana,

    I had a nodule in my left lung that showed up on a CT scan, did not show up on a PET scan, and then seemed to disappear altogether after chemotherapy. It was never biopsied, so we don't know for sure what it was. Anyway, they will probably keep a close eye on your father's lung.

    The only fissures that I know about are anal fissures. You do NOT want to have to deal with anal fissures. Trust me on that.

    I had surgery to remove half my liver after spread from the colon. After the surgery, a ct scan showed two spots on my liver. Through 10 months of chemo they did not change. Docs at Mayo think they must be calcium deposits which I guess are not unusual.

    Hey - if the radiologist was willing to bet his mortgage (did he sign over the deed...:) then I'll bet too that you have nothing to worry about..
