mamogram after reconstruction

Hi, I was wondering if it is routine to have a mammogram after reconstruction. I have silicone implants, my surgeon said I do not need mamograms ever again. My gyn said I still need yearly exams. Is it safe to have mamos with implants?
thanks, Karyn

Hi! I don't know about implants but I had a Tram Flap and I still have mammos on that breast! It's pretty uncomfortable but they want to be sure there isn't any cancer in there. My feeling is to have the mammo for another way to protect yourself. It is up to the MD though so you have to decide who to go with. Maybe a 3rd opinion is needed. Good luck. HUGS!! Cathy0
