Hi Karen,
Did the progesterone help? Has anyone suggested an alternative to a hysterectomy? It seems almost radical to suggest a hysterectomy after your D&C came back with an O.K.
One thing I've heard time and again is that fat tissue holds estrogen and enhances any problems that may be associated with it. This is one of the reasons I've been trying to lose weight ever since I was diagnosed with cancer. If you need to lose some, it would be a good start to improving your situation.
You are young to be facing a hysterectomy. I had surgery to remove uterine fibroid tumors when I was 42 because I felt I was too young to go into menopause. I did a lot of research before that surgery, and had no reason to suspect I would end up having uterine cancer 6 years later, but would do it again under the same circumstances - but would keep my weight as low as it was then!0 -
Hey Karen,
I also had heavy bleeding, which led to a DNC, my gyno said I had pre-cancerous cells, I was referred to an onc/gyno, she confirmed I was stage 1 uterine cancer. I was 36 so I understand how you feel. Have you gotten a 2nd opinion? I hope that you do and ask if taking hormones is really the way to go here. Email me if you have any questions!!!

Thank you both. I am getting a second opinion Feb 8th with a onc/gyn. I will see what they say. The progesteron has helped but it is short term only. I do need to lose a lot of weigh so i am trying. Very hard. They may leave the ovaries in so i do not go into menupose. I will go to the next step and go from there. I lost my husband to cancer and want to be around to raise my 5 yr old so i will do what ever it takes now. they have made so much progress. I will keep you posted.

Good luck, Karen, and keep us posted. If you can lose weight, almost everything will better for you health-wise. I struggle with it all the time, but stick with Weight Watchers every week for support and help.kaiepooh said:Thank you both. I am getting a second opinion Feb 8th with a onc/gyn.
