Lung damage from Oxaliplatin?

I have been doing some research since getting results from my scan yesterday. On my PET/CT scan, my lower lungs lit up in a cloudy pattern. The radiologist said in the report that it was probable pneumonia. I don't feel sick at all.

I have since found some information that indicates that 1% of patients receiving Oxaliplatin may develop pulmonary fibrosis.

I am still trying to get into see my oncologist today. Has anyone heard of this or experienced lung damage from chemo?

    Also, I don't even have a cough or rattle in my lungs.....

    I think damage can be a possibility....heavy metals are heavy metals. I would be interested in what info you have found. I do not have a persistent cough or rattle - just know that when i do cough, that there is a rattle and congestion without apparent respiratory infection. I can still exercsie to my full extent and am taking it in stride....

    I am familiar with pulmonary fibrosis as a result of chemotherapy - specifically "platins".

    I counseled a young Air Force officer who developed pulmonary fibrosis after chemo and was being put out of the Air Force because he was no longer able to fly jets. It isn't life threatening and - as far as I know doesn't really impact you significantly unless you are at altitude or in an oxygen deficient environment.

    Talk to your doctor about options - as I recall it doesn't go away.
