I started chemo yesterday for bone and live mets, I had Aredia and have run a T and spent the day in bed really feeling sick. Also had carbo and taxterne which I will have for two weeks and one week off this had better improve fast as I was to weak tonight to even make supper for the two of us. Anyone else react like this? The aredia will only be given monthly so maybe that is the problem yet tonight. Prayers to all. Linda0

Linda, sorry to hear that your treatment was not very easy, sent you and email.
Charlies, it's best to talk to your Onc and have them explain the reason for their decision to use the Chemo they are. There seems to be lots of different treatments and We are all so different in our own make-up the doctor will explain why he/she chose this treatment. ASK0 -
Hi there, welcome to the club you never wanted to join! Non-the-less you will never meet a more loving group of people.
I was diagnosed 5 1/2 years ago, stage IV for 4 1/2 years with bone mets.
Best thing I've taken is herceptin, but I am HER2neu +. I also took aredia, switched to zometa mainly because of the time it takes to treat difference (4 hours vs. 15 minutes).
I take aromasin, about same as femara. Go to post by gdpawel, he has some good info. They have tests now that can tell if tumor is sensitive to a certain chemo, if it won't work why take it?
Only other sugestion, besides no sugar, lots of water, rest, lots of veggies and fruit (fresh) is to take tumeric. Go do a search on MD Anderson website, very informative!
Good luck, God bless and hang in there, this thing can be beaten!

Hummer, You did write that you also had liver mets and beat those right? How much tumeric do you take and did you do it with the chemo, taxotere and carbo? Lindahummingbyrd said:Hi there, welcome to the club you never wanted to join! Non-the-less you will never meet a more loving group of people.

I take 450mg tumeric extract (root) 95%curcuminoids and tumeric (root) 50mg. Apparently there is something about the curcuminoids.lindatn said:Hummer, You did write that you also had liver mets and beat those right? I was not on it w/ chemo because I didn't know about it.
When I did start it my CEA had gone from 350 to 750 then 3 weeks after tumeric CEA, believe it or not, was 36.5!
Went in for emergency back surgery, was off tumeric 10 weeks and now CEA is 1,217.
I've been back on tumeric for 1 week now, should have labs tested in about 3 weeks and I will let you know results then.
There is a great article on the MD Anderson website that I had posted here, but SOMEONE removed my post. Seems we are being censored here just a wee bit.
