A Courageous Battle

I posted only one other time to this site and that was when my younger brother, Dave, was diagnosed Stage IV colon cancer a year and 1/2 ago. Everyone here has shown great support and concern for each other-- most of you probably have never met one another but share a special bond. After 20 months of surgery/chemo/pain Dave died on Dec. 3, 2005 at the age of 48. He left behind his wife and 2 children. David was the best brother anyone could ask for...I feel blessed to have had him in my life. This group helped me tremendously, giving me great hope (isn't that what it's all about?) and broadening my knowledge on this horrific disease. To everyone out there-- continue to fight this beast!!!! And, most of all, never, EVER give up. God's blessings to each of you.

Love,
Lynnie

My deepest sympathy to you and Dave's family. Hug those kids. And make sure you have a colonoscopy if not done already.

Your post reminds all of us in this fight how horrible this disease is.

I agree with Tricia....it hurts each time we hear of another loss of life to this disease. We have had several this year.

My sympathies go out to you and Dave's family.

    Dear Lynnie,

My heart goes out to you and Dave's family. I know what it's like to lose a sibling to intestinal cancer. It can be quite horrific.

    Lynnie,

I remember your first posts. They caught my attention because my favorite brother's name is Dave. My heart goes out to you now and your message is so wonderful in spite of his demise.

You are blessed to have had him in your life and never forget that. You have to be there so his children remember him the way you do.

I will be thinking about you over this tough time of the year. AND you never EVER give up either!!!!!!

    Lynnie,

I am so sorry for your loss and any sadness you and your family are going through. Please extend our love to Dave's entire family.

Thank you for including us and for your words of encouragment. Try to allow this tragedy to help highlight all the goodness in your life. It is the only benefit battling this disease brings us. I force it to make me cherish every happy moment. I hope you can do this, especially over the holidays.

Be well and know that you are forever a member here. jana
