My 1st anniversary is tommorrow & it's really depressing me. Everyone at webwhispers says it's a time to be thankful (I'm alive) and I am. Others say it's a time to reflect. But STILL it is hard to NOT think about how much this has CRUSHED my wife & 13 y.o. son, emotionally AND financially!!! I had insurence (through her work) (thank God) but ZERO savings. I've been appling for SSDI since Dec. of '04 (on appeal now for last FOUR months). We can't get any other assistance because the $2,000 a month she makes
is TOO much. That's supposed to pay our rent $745, bills, insurence, Dr. appt.'s, and feed 3!!! I had a car I "sold" to a guy, worth $2,000, of which he gave me $200 and left town. I have no idea where he is and haven't seen a dime in 5 months. And SOMEHOW I'm supposed to celebrate being alive? And REFLECTING is about the last thing I want to do right about now. Being broke on x-mas LAST YEAR was bad enough yet alone again. Because of fatigue, a 20 min. trip to the grocery store wipes me out for hours and I'm only 47!!! I too, just had my one year anniversary and your right, thank goodness for insuance, the insurance have paid out almost 450,000. My surgery went bad and I was in ICU for 28 days. I guess I have paid out about 3,000 or so. I went through 34 radiation treatments. I am using a TEP, which I have had good results. It a pain in the butt but is well worth it. I have thought about going on disabilty but work as been good to me, so for now still working.A couple of months ago I was really fatigue and sleeping all the time. Went and had a B-12 shot and that seemed to help. Rode bikes with my daughter this past week. That first day was tough but did a little better each day. Even went and rode go-carts too. My daughter lost her mother April 1st so I have to be strong for her. I also live in the dallas area(De-Soto) and go to speech class every wed.at the cancer center. It is free and it is like a support group for me and thank God, it has really helped me get through it. I am sorry to hear your having so much trouble. God Bless you and your family.
