Hello to everyone. I haven't posted in a while but have kept up on all the posts. My hubby was dx in Sept 03 w/ IV colon with mets to liver and lungs. He was doing fairly well with everything until last week. He has been on several protocols of chemo. Off and on (mostly on) since Oct 21, 03. He did a CAT scan a couple weeks ago and after demanding the radiologist re-do his report since it wasn't complete enough (said there was an uptake but didn't say by how much) we now find that the largest has grown from a 2.3cm to 4.39! Yikes. and the other 2 have also grown substantially. They also see one in the left lung!
He had the tests run and is a candidate for the new Erbitux which he will start tomorrow. We pray that this will be the magic cure and will find out tomorrow if he can tolerate the drug. (Fingers crossed and prayers flooding into heaven!)
I want to thank everyone for their continued love and support for all this time and thank you all in advance for your support for tomorrow.
I have rambled long enough. My question is this, have any of you done the Erbitux and has it worked for you?
My pastor tells me to lay this a Jesus' feet cuz he can deal with it and I can't so that I have done. The crying is over for now and now I look for answers and know that His will will be done and that we will be fine with whatever the outcome may be.
Thank you and God bless each and every one of you.

    Good morning pj,

So sorry for what you and your husband are going through.

I have not been on Erbitux, so I really can't comment on it.

Please know that I will be praying for your husband to tolerate this treatment and have great results.

I pray for you to find strength and peace in these tough time.

May I suggest you try and start your husband on a juicing program? It can't hurt, and as others here will tell you, it could be your solution.

Hang in there and let us know how you make out.

    Hi PJ,

I do not have any information on or experience with Erbibux, but I hope that your husband will respond well to it. I do know that there has been much progress with colon cancer in the last few years.

Please take time for yourself. Being a caretaker can take its toll on one. Come here often for love and support.

I hope today goes well for your husband.

    Sending prayers your way,

    Kay

    hi pj

there is a website you can gather info on Erbitux that is written by a doctor who was a researcher with Memorial Sloan Kettering.

    www.cancerdecisions.com

I did a search on there and there are many articles relating to Erbitux.

    hope this helps.

As for your hubby, I second Barb's suggestion. One cannot ignore the success that scouty has had withher juicing protocol to cure her stage 4 cancer. She is not an isolated case though she is the one we know on this site. But personally I know of others.

if you need any info on this feel free to ask.

    peace, emily

    Hi Pj
My boyfriend (he's 26) had three liver mets and a suspicious mark on his lung. He started Erbitux at the end of June and his scan three weeks ago showed that the tumours had "disappeared". He's continuing with Erbitux combined with Xeloda. Oncologist is delighted and v surprised. Good luck and please email me if you want to. Be warned- side effects can include severe rash, BUT that's a sign the drug is working. Take care. Joanne

    Hi,
My husband was dx 18 mo. ago stage IV with mets to the liver and abdonimal wall. He has been on chemo since. He is on his 3rd different cocktail. His last one was Erbitux with CPT11. It worked for a few months. His only reaction to the Erbitux was a serve acne like rash on his face and upper torso. His last scan showed a growth of one of the liver tumors from 2.5cm to 4.5 and substantial growth with the other tumors to the liver. He is now back on Erbitux with Avastian this time. So far no sideeffects. Hope your husband does well with the Erbitux.

    Hi PJ

Sorry to hear of your struggle. My hubby has Stage IV and the doc sad that Erbitux may be a possible drug choice in the future. However, he mentioned that insurance companies don't always agree to cover the drug. Did you have any difficulty with insurance?

I agree with your pastor that we should lay this at Jesus feet and I am trying to do that. I like to control things and He is teaching me that I can't control cancer. I have to depend on Him for everything.

I pray that this drug will be the magic cure. Since my hubby is Stage IV, I know how you feel.
