My brother has Stage III c melanoma; primary site was RIGHT index finger tip with +axillary lymph nodes with seepage into surrounding tissue...no other known mets after PET, MRI, CTScan. He's not happy with the expected outcome of interferon treatment and is looking into vaccine trials but hears that the waiting list is long. Does anyone have any info on vaccine trials that are open now? He doesn't have the original tumor so won't be able to do the vaccine that is made from the tumor. Thanks, Keith

I don't have any info specificlly but the NCI had many clinical trial on their site that are offered through the NIH. Google National Cancer Institute and from their main page go to clinical trials and then you pick the cancer etc. Also this link http://www.mpip.org/bb/bbindex.html is to a very active melanoma group with loads of information. Best of luck

I have just been upgraded to a level 4 melanoma that has landed in my L4 vertebrae and have just been presented with potential options for treatment. I have been told about HLA testing as well as the possibility of Bio-Chemo. I would really appreciate any feedback regarding these types of treatments.

    Hi Sallie,
I posted to the message before yours about the MPIP and provided a link. There are many on that board who are stage 4 and have done biochemotherapy so you might want to go there and ask questions on the board. You will get responses from people with personal experience that way. However, you can get technical information from the NIH/NCI melanoma website and here's that link. http://www.nci.nih.gov/cancertopics/types/melanoma
Wishing you the best of luck
