Hi gals.....still do not have my pathology reort for my sentinel nodes...but I have a question...How big a deal is it that I have negative receptors....I have no recourse? There is nothing I can take after treatment? Seems awful vulnerable to me.....any negative receptor survivors out there?? Please tell me what you have learned! :)

Dear Wendy, don't freak about the negative receptors. The only advantage to having estrogen positive receptors is that anti-estrogen medications, like tamoxifen or femara, can help prevent reoccurance. Even that is not 100% effective - I took both of those meds and my mets still spread.

Dear Wendy, I had progesterone positive and estrogen negative and my onc put me on Femara. I have been on it for 1 year now.

I am ER/PR negative. To me it means fewer options to treat. But I remember something my surgeon told me. She said that some studies are finding that younger women who are receptor negative actually fare better. Who knows if this is really true. I'm 39 and I cling to her statement for hope. How old are you?

I am 8 year survivor of stage 3 breast cancer with 11 out of 21 positive nodes and negative to estrogen reseptor. I haven't missed taking some of those drugs at all since I was sensative to everything they did and didn't need anymore side effects. There are allot of people out there living with cancers that should of killed them many years ago. Human's have survived some incredible things, it never ceases to amaze me.
I don't know about you but the treatments I had were enough, couldn't imagine having to take one more thing along with the meds I had to take for all the diseases I have been left with since my fight.
Thankfully for me my life has gotten much better over the past 3 years taking me far from those many years of pain I suffered long after the cancer was gone.
I found hope through the knowledge of knowing that there were so many survivors out there who just shouldn't be and that the stats they gave me like everyone else are made to be broken, since there is only one of me.

I am ER/PR negative, and no, there is nothing out there for women with such a diagnosis to take in combatting recurrence. That's the downside. The upside is that I am now 3 years post-diagnosis and am doing extremely well. Also, if I had been ER postitive I would have opted for taking one of the drugs offered (Tamoxifen, Arimidex, Femara), but not having the option I don't have to put up with all those icky side effects, so that's another upside. See, there are pluses for we ER- women! Good luck with you path report.

Hi my name is Cyndi. I am looking for a support group for my sister. She was diagnosed with breast cancer in August. What I would like to get her for Christmas is some testimonies from women that have survived her exact disease. She the most vibrant beautiful 39 year old women I have ever known. She has 3 kids (18,15,9). No family history. She is estrogen/progesterone/Herceptin negative. Highly aggressive fast growing tumor. It was 2.1cm. She has had Adriamyacin and Cytoxan and has just started the Taxotere. She has to do 6 weeks of radiation when she is done with this. Her Taxotere (2nd dose Dec 14th) has really kicked her when she is down.

She is in the midst of treatment and handling it like a champ. I am trying to find her women with estrogen negative breast cancer that have survived. I would like to put a little book together for her for Christmas.

Please e mail me or reply if you can contribute.

    Thank you,
    Cyndi Solesbee
