My friend just had 2 lobes of her right lung removed on 7/19/05 and is experiencing a problem where all smells make her nauseous and sometimes vomit. Has anyone else had this problem?

I had my entire right lung removed 2.5 years ago as the result of NSCLC 3B. I have never had the problem you describe, however, I am definately much more sensitive to all smells. A lot of perfume or automobile exhaust can make me feel short of breath and almost claustrophobic.0

Hi: I had half of my lung removed on 11/17/03. I think what your friend is experiencing is a common after-effect of surgery in general. I think it has to do with the anesthesia. I had the same problem after surgery but it eventually went away - then I started on chemo and, of course, had the nausea problem because of that. But I'm now a survivor of almost 2 years. Best of luck to your friend!0
