do we have any survivors who have looked into checking their ph, and if acidic, what has been taken to restore the balance.

I know emily has posted about this and I am sure will post when she has a chance...or also you could do a search on "pH" through this board's messages.

I have read about it, but not done much about it yet myself.

    Good Luck,

Oh yes...that has been one of my focuses. I used to check mine almost daily but once it stabilized, now I only check once or twice a week. It is really cool cuz you can impact it daily. My green drink that I do daily is extremely alkaline. You need some acidic foods so don't over react but you should not have a diet of majority acidic foods. The nastly acidic culprits that are the easiest (in my mind) to cut back on" table salt (sea salt that I now use is on the other end of the spectrum), sugar, antibiotics, processed cheese, ice cream, beef, lobster, aspartame, saccharin, pork, veal, lard and many others, but not all of these are bad foods so again, moderation is the key. The good alkaline foods are: sea salt, mineral water, lentils, pumpkin seeds, onions, miso, sweet potato, watermelon, pineapple, lime, raspberry, tangerine, sea veggies, soy sauce, spices, cinnamin, pepper, garlic, asparagus, kale, parsley, arugula, mustard greens, broccoli, grapefruit, cantelope, honeydew, citrus, olive, mango, most herbs, apple cider vinegar, almonds, potato, mushrooms, eggplant, collard greens, cabbage, rutabaga, lemon, pears, avocado, apple, blackberry, cherry, peach, oats, seeds, olive oil, flax oil, celery, beets, okra, cucumbers, squash, lettuces, oranges, bananas, blueberries, raisins, grapes, and strawberries. As you can see, the good stuff far outweighs the bad, you just have to eat it daily. There are loads of choices.

There are charts on the internet to really learn it. I personally think my twice daily green drink (I do Green Magma and Emily does Barleans) really helps with it too. I do it before juicing and eating meals (I juice before breakfast and dinner).

    Great question Cheil!!!!

I have recently read about checking pH as well. How exactly do you check it yourself? And, how much of the "good stuff" do you recommend eating per day?

a thousand thank you's Lisa, I have been looking for someone who is already aware and practising PH balance. If I may pester you a little more, do you have a time of day for checking and, which do you check, salive, urine or blood. I have ordered a PH tester from the States, and await its delivery. Can you also advise me on the value of the "green Magma or Barleans" and what is in it. I guess its a powder additive to add to the juice ?.

I test my urine with test strips I ordered from a place Wanda told me about www.ph-ion.com. Follow the directions (they are not expensive).

Green Magma is a blend of powdered barley grasses. "It is a natural alkaline, energizing drink powder containing a wealth of beneficial phytonutrients including anitoxidants, enzymes, vitamins, minerals, amino acids, protein and chlorophyll" (taken straight from the label). You can read more about it at www.greenfoods.com. I'm not sure about Barleans but bet it is very similar. Yes you can add it to the juice of drink it straight up before you juice like I do. I mix it with water and drink it (for some reason, it doesn't make me gag). I can't really look at it while drinking it since it is green!!!As far as how much of things to eat, I try to only have 1 high acid, 1 low acid food per meal with 2-3 alkaline foods.

    Example:

Acidic: natural chicken thigh (medium acidic) on a bed of long grain and wild rice (mildly acid).

Alkaline: big green salad (mildly alkaline)and cantalope (medium alkaline)

Most fruits and veggies are alkaline so that makes it easy. Most meats and dairy products are acidic. I don't eat meat but once or twice a week so that also makes it easy. Beans are all mostly low acid and I love all kinds of them. I love my handful of walnuts and pumpkin seeds just before I eat to curb my menopausal appetite and both of them are alkaline.

I don't really think much about anymore unless my pee tests tells me to watch it. If you look up something like acid/alkaline body chemical balance on the internet, I bet you can find a chart like I have.

    Hope this helps.

thanks Lisa, just read your profile what a story, you have given me some hope of beating this, unfortunately Avastin is not yet available on our UK National Health Service, but we will work with what we get.

you helped more than you know,
    Jim.

thanks Jim and yes it is amazing to me too....i keep pinching myself to see if I am going to wake up but so far, it's okay.

I have a few writeups I have done about my strategy and philosophy of my diet changes as well as my exact protocol. If you are interested, send me your home email address to the email here (one is an attachment and this site doesn't allow for them).

    Hugs, Lisa P.
