Time for the happy dance
I went with my wife (Jerri) to see the oncologist today for a regular old office visit, blood labs, and to get the PET scan results from last week.
The scan came back clean...AGAIN!!!!! (cheers/tears of joy and naked rain dances are very appropriate here) This is the third clean scan since her surgery!!! It's a God thing. It's gotta be.
What a relief. We were so nervous about it.
Nine months ago she was diagnosed with Stage IV colon cancer. Major surgery, couldn't finish radiation and chemo 'cause it made her so sick. Three doctors independently told us that it was a grim outlook. AND SHE KICKED THEIR BUTTS!!!!
What a woman. What a survivor. And she's my wife.
Thank you all for the prayers over the last nine months. God hears all of you.
And Emily and Lisa P...we're working on making the transition to the healthier, natural programs that you promote so enthusiastically. Is there such a thing as organic beer??? What a motivational duo you two are! Thanks for info that you guys sent us. Thank you for taking the time to show us that you care about everyone here.
I am soooo happy for Jerri. And I hope (that's such a weak word to describe my conviction here, but I'm at a loss right now for a better one) that all of you are doing well, and can see that this invader CAN BE BEAT. I know she's not completely out of the storm yet, but what a joyous feeling it is to have the clouds part and let the sun warm the soul. She's smiling.
Now go hug somebody you love! Hell, go hug somebody you don't love, too. What a day!
Jimmy

Dear Jimmy and Jerri,
What wonderful news!!! Now the next best thing is to see you in Las Vegas in October - there are still rooms available!!!
I am so happy for you both. It is pure joy to hear the words "all clear" or "no evidence of disease". I know all too well how wonderful that feeling is.
I will be doing the happy dance for you tonight.
God bless you both. You will still be in my prayers as are all "semi-colons".

I'm doing a little happy dance for the both of you. That is such awesome news. It's always good to hear about one more person beating this aweful disease.
I couldn't have read this at a better time. I am going in for my second PET/CT in two days (my first since chemo). Hearing good news always lifts my spirits and makes it easier to know that everyone here is standing by everyone else's side.
I also have started the transition towards nutritous eating and juicing. Already, I have noticed a difference in the way I feel and my pants are starting to get baggy. And, I've only started this new eating a couple of weeks ago. I have more energy and am more optimistic. Someone recommended a book called "Beating Cancer (with or through?) Nutrition." I can't tell you the author right off, but a lot of what I have read so far makes a lot of sense. Plus, you can't really hurt anything for trying to eat better. And, who knows, it might just be the actual cure that most have been ignoring.
I'm praying for each of us to get this kind of news.

Excellent news Jimmy!!!!!!!!! Please give my utmost respect and love to Jerri. She is a fighter and I love that.
But honey, you are such a wonderful spouse and caregiver. I completely understand about the joyous feelings and how they can be so awesome and wonderful. Enjoy them and don't worry about organic beer. I'm not sure there is such a thing. I drank my fair share of regular lite beer in Biloxi and it doesn't seem to have impacted my health yet. Beer has been around for hundreds of years and Lance loves his so........go for it!!!!!!!
I am doing the happy dance with you right now and CHEERS!!!!!!!!!!
I am so happy for Jerri, but boyfriend I am happy for you too. After all, you had something to do with this!!!!!! You are awesome.
Hugs, Lisa P.0 -
What great news!
You success stories give so much hope to us just starting out on this journey. My oncologist is hopeful and that's great. But when I read your positive stories it makes me really feel I can do this too.
Sorry if this seems "all about me". I'm hugely happy for you and your wife. But cannot help feeling joyous about the hope it gives me.

Praise God, praise God. I am happy for you and your wife. I had my pet scan done yesterday cause they found a few spots on the lower left lung. I haven't gotten the results yet but I know God is still blessing me. God didn't give us the spirit of fear. Again I am so happy for you both and may God continue to bless you.Betsydoglover said:What great news!

Jimmy,
I remember the first day you posted about Jerri. You were SO involved in making her experience with everything as informed and educated as possible. You definitely went above and beyond to do everything in your power to help her get through everything. And boy has it paid off!
I cannot put into words how happy I am for you both! My deepest wishes for many many more to come!

Betsy...don't apologize, this is all about you guys that fight this disease day in and day out, non-stop, without a break, involuntarily, and despite all the hardships you endure you still rise to support each other. YOU ARE GIANTS!!! I hope news like this can inspire at least one person to keep up the fight and the hope.
Lisa P....you make me blush..not many times do I get called honey and boyfriend in the same conversation.
Ross....you dance whatever steps feel good to you and Jen! Just make 'em poopy, I mean peppy! Line dancin' is good for me too!
Stacy...ohhhh, that first post was the hardest writing I've ever had to do in my life. I can't describe how difficult that was. And you guys pulled us through those tough days. I'm so grateful for that.
I know there is an ever present chance, and probably a fairly good chance that this stuff will be back. And it haunts all of us. But we're all going to enjoy the heck out of this for as long as we can.
Thanks again to all of you guys!

Don't worry about the chances of bad news... just live life now in the NED world!!!!!!!!!!
Be well. jana0 -
jimmy and jerri. sharing in your great news. its good to share tears of joy and yes it is a God thing. Doctors are only trained in the the known and only God has the unknown cornered. so people like emily, stacy, lisa p and your wife and many others are a mystery to them. i will keep you in my prayers.
