Hi all,
My name's Karen, and I just discovered this website a few nights ago. I just wanted to introduce myself to everyone and give a little insight into my situation. I found out that I had a tumor in my bladder on 4/20/05. Two days later I had a softball sized tumor removed only to find out that it was bladder cancer (TCC). None of my doctors had ever seen an 18 yaer old with TCC, so I went to MD Anderson in TX to get treated for the cancer. I go back on Aug. 3 for surgery to remove a stent that was placed 2 months back. When I have my surgery they will be able to tell if the cancer is back. If it is I will have BCG treatments to help keep it from recurring. But anyway enough about cancer! I will be a freshman in college at Brevard College in NC, and I am going to double major in Psychology and Wilderness Leadership and Experiential Education...what a mouthful. But I just wanted to say hi to everyone and say that I am so glad that there are other young cancer survivors out there. I hope to get to know all of you!

Welcome Karen! I am Kristin.... I have been coming on here for two years. a little before this board was created... I am 24 yrs old and a 2yr 3 month survivor of lung cancer I was dx'ed at 21 and turned 22 in the hospital a few weeks later. I finished college with a BSBA in management my school is odd cause rather then a bachelor of business administration in management or a bachelor of science in management i have a bachelor of science in business administration in management..... I guess they like to give me a mouthfull hehe. though I want to go back to school I just dont know what to go for yet. I am the young survivor who tries to keep in touch with everyone but well I used to have more time when I was just doing physical theropy for my nerve damage in my left leg and just going to school but now I work fulltime and tend to have an insane scheduel especially this past week and maybe next week because my bosses wife just passed away last night. so since the owner hasnt given us any relief while he is off we have been pulling long shifts though the owner doesnt get why she has to pay us overtime and such but that is not our fault. oh well I guess its why I have a degree in management so I could run my own place hehe. I used to go to NC every summer but went broke and havent been there in three yrs now I miss it. I live in pittsburgh PA born and raised. I hope u will keep coming on here and posting and I hope to get to know you better. Check out the room also.
