cat scan results

Just thought i'd let you folks know the "good" news. Oncologist says the cat scan of my lungs shows no significant increase or decrease of my lesions, ie-stable disease. They were all small to start with (i think the biggest one was 7mm). He says small ones are less likely to show a response. Cat scan of abd was clean. So it's time to take a break from chemo. At this point the benefits may not outway the side effects. I'll be scheduled for a cat scan at the end of Sept to see if there is any increase. I started in Jan. It will be nice to have a break.
This gives me time to schedule a colostomy, which I've been thinking about for a while. Between the pain from the anal fissure, and the incontinence and the waves of constipation and diarrhea, I think a colostomy would give me my life back. My life would be less likely to revolve around a bathroom.
Anyway, I wanted to let you guys know what was going on here.
Thanks for all you do!
Mary

    Mary,

I am glad that you will get a rest from chemo. And I am glad that you had a good CT report.

You know my story about my surgery, so if you have any questions just ask.

You can email me any time.

    Good luck.

    Hi Mary,

Well, the CT shows lots of positive news! Good for you! It is always good to have a break from the chemo and give the body a rest.

You will be in my thoughts throughout your continuing treatment with the colostomy.

Let us know how you are doing.

Hi Mary. Good to hear that at least you have been able to keep things under control. I think you have a lot of courage Mary to go for the colostomy. I truly don't know how I would react if I had to make that decision. For the future I hope that all works out ok....and as you say....your quality of life will hopefully improve. Good on yah sweetie!!!!

Delighted to hear the good news -- stable and no increase is good indeed.
I have had a colostomy for 2+ yrs. Please feel free to contact me if I can offer any support in that area. I was just "singing the praises" of colostomies to a friend this evening (I know that sounds strange, but hope you know what I mean).
