I am new to this board so the subject may not be new. Just wondering....I was on tamox. for 5 years. I am now taking Femara. Does anyone out there experience joint/muscle pain with this drug. If you do, how do you treat this side effect?

It's been discussed a lot. Some of us took drugs like Vioxx and Bextra till they were taken from the market. Others go with over the counter and make do. I take double strength glucosamine/chondroitin. I'm stiffest in the morning or after sitting/riding in the same position for an extended time. I also soak in a hot tub to start my days. You can scroll to the bottom and do a search for Femara Joint Pain within this forum and get other suggestions. When I'm hobbling first thing in the morning I remind myself it's do-able. At least I have a drug that offers added protection against a recurrance. I don't know anyone who suffers the joint pain who's found a way to get rid of it completely. We do have the choice of getting off the drug and rolling the dice with cancer. I have friends who made that choice. It just wasn't a consideration for me. Good luck.

I was first on Arimidex for 1 year, I could not take all the joint pain and stiffness so my onc put me on Femara and ultraset for the joint pain. I too also take double strength glucosanmine/chondroitin and calcium. I still have the joint pain and stiffness but it is not as bad as when I was on Arimidex. I did take Vioxx, Bextra and Celebrex but stopped them because of the side effects. I am trying to get back into do some exercises to help with my flexability. I experience the same things that Terri said about stiffness in the morning and/or when sitting/riding in the same position. But I want to do everything I can to keep away the cancer.

I started on Femara, then changed to Tamox aa\fter they think I fell out of remission. femara made all my bones ache. . .I survived it by taking disability and retirement and taking extra strenght tylenol and sleeping a lot. I have not had a problem with the tamox, except hot flashes, etc.
