Hi Ladys So many things to ask. I go to the doc in the afternoon to talk. What is metastatic seeding? I may have ovarian & pancreatic cancer the report said. I also have large amount of omental cake? I had breast cancer stage 3 three yr ago now this. I'm so happy I found this place, I know I'm going to need your help. I know nothing about this kind of cancer and I'm scared to find out. I know I have too. Anything you can tell me or what should I ask the doc about ovarian cancer. The blood test showed I'm at 145 right now. Is this very high? I feel I'm going to die with this one.
HUG Carol
Thank you

    Hi Carol
I hope someone emails you about the metastic seeding and omental cake. I have no idea what that would be but I am sure someone on this board can help. If not try emailing someone at the ACS for info. My CA125 was a 120 when I went into my surgery but I know of women who have had much higher numbers...in the thousands. I considered myself fortunate to have a lower number. Good luck I will be thinking of you!

Hey Carol.....my name is joanna and i am no doctor but i will try my best to answer your questions...before i do, i would like to say that i was diagnosed with ovarian cancer stage 3c (5 years ago)...my type of cancer was a germ cell-radical & fast growing one...it metastisized to the lymphnodes and abdomen area and surrounded my chest cavity as well....please don't give up hope...you beat breast cancer so you can beat ovarian/pancreatic cancer as well...hang in there girl...

metastatic seeding is a special way of saying a tumor that has metastisized (spread to surrounding areas-organs and/or connected itself with another type of tumor...such as ovarian and pancreatic...Cancer can be spread through the blood or lymph nodes...i believe seeding is spread through the lymphnodes. As for omental cake...this is what i found on the internet...omental cake is basically omental fat infiltration by soft tissue, and the most common causes of this is ovarian, stomach and/or colon metastasis.

I sure hope this helps you somewhat...take it easy and if you ever want to talk please email me...ok...peace to you and yours...joanna siefert

Hi Carol, I am so sorry you have to walk this cancer road again. I am glad you found this place also. I have ovarian cancer stage3c,grade3.

Mestastic seeding is the spreading of ovarian cancer. HEre is what wcn.org has on their website. The way ovarian cancer grows, or the path it takes if it leaves the original tumor, is its pathophysiology. If ovarian cancer does spread, it tends to spread around the inside of the abdomen. Small tumors (called seeding) may be found on the outside of the uterus and fallopian tubes and around the covering of the intestines. Tumors may also be found on the lining of the abdomen and on the surface of the liver. Some germ cell tumors can spread through the lymphatic system to lymph nodes. Sometimes tumors can spread to the inside of the liver, to the chest cavity, to the lung, or to other organs outside the abdomen, but that is less common. Cancer that has spread is called metastatic cancer or metastasis.

Patients whose ovarian cancer has spread or metastasized may have symptoms specific to that organ. When ovarian cancer spreads beyond the ovaries, it often causes a collection of fluid in the abdominal cavity, which is known as ascites. Ascites may be moderate with little or no symptoms. In more advanced cases, several quarts of fluid may accumulate causing a swollen abdomen.

I hope that helps you understand what they are saying. It is also very common to have omentum caking. That is the fat wall that protects your abdomen and that cancer is usually there as we know cancer loves fat. It is typically removed during surgery. Hope all of the information helps you out. Please know that you can call ACS with questions also. Good luck and please keep us posted. This site here is a sisterhood I find much comfort, support and strength. The women here are so caring, open and they understand the walk.

    Prayers and Hugs

Hi,Carol. I don't know how you're doing after the last set of inquiries but in reading about your situation on this site, thought you might want to know about a group of women who launched the Ovarian Cancer National Alliance in Washington DC (www.ovariancancer.org). The group has representatives on a number of national scientific panels and speaks for women in these different forums. I suggest contacting OCNA for more info on ovca or for specialists in this area. I personally was frustrated at the lack of info on my flavor of ovca and OCNA gave me a number of solid contacts to get the right info from the source. Best of luck. Annette
