Need to refuel with hope...

I don't run into many day like this. I've have a hard time breathing because of the tumor on lung. I went to see the Dr. who would have performed brachytherapy but since we don't know if my lung tumor is a matastisis on the colon or a new caner she is not going to follow through. She consulted with both my Pulmonologist and Oncologist to come to an aggreement that the next tx should be outside radiation, to see if the tumor responds. With the laser...we sort of put the cart before horse, and now...?? I have a stage IV cancer. I'm currently reading about nutrition and trying to cut off the enemy supply lines to choke off and stop the cancer but I still haven't been to the health food store to get things that might help wall off the tumor or prepare me now for radiation. I still don't know what to get. I feel so alone now. Chemo has been stopped and now dealing with the tumor. I'm told it should be treated like the Colon--chemo. But now radiation... and I hope I can make my new power diet can work synergistically with the radiation to shrink and/or desolve it. I'm scared. I'm now becoming so involved with my treatments and health that I'm at these cross roads. I pray everyday in my own way to God to bless my foods so that they work to kill the cancer cells and bring me back into good health. Was this a feeling for you out there that has gone with Alt. med? Will it work?... will it not work?...What would I expect out of radiation?

Someone talk to me. This Xena cancer warrior wants to fight but I just need to know others has done this with liver and lung metastisis and was a victor. I'm reading Patrick Quillin book on Beating Cancer with nutrition. It's very good so far. Thanks for any input and hope. ~ luvnhugs

Wanda, I don't know whether you are comfortable enough to exercise, but if you can manage to take even a twenty minute walk, I strongly urge you to do so. Walking is a natural anti-depressant. I completely believe in its healing powers!

Good luck. We all have those days....

    Hey honey,

    first things first (((((((wanda)))))))

    ok hugs aside.

    To answer your question:

YES!! The feeling was there--would it work or not work? I STILL ask the question. I STILL wonder if it will come back or spread. Either way one chooses the questions remain.

But the difference is that I have FAITH in alternatives and did NOT have faith in the chemo. That would have been counterproductive had I gone the chemo route.

I based my final decision on three things:

    1) my grandfather, aunt and sister all used western medicine to treat their cancer and it's symptoms and they all died.

    2) when I went to the chemo clinic to consult with the oncologist who would have administered my chemo, they were serving the patients donuts. duh. no brainer there. How could I possibly trust a doctor to "heal" my cancer when he was feeding his cancer patients cancer-feeding garbage food.

    3) the theory behind chemo (kill ALL cells healthy or otherwise) does not line up with my philosophy on healing the body of disease allowed to manifest by imbalances in the body, ie nutrition, stress, lack of exercise etc.

So for me it boiled down to faith. I put my faith in God to direct my path and heal me. Does that mean that I never stumble in that faith? No. But it does mean that I never give up that faith.

I have two books to recommend to read in conjunction with Quillins, wanda.

    1) When Hope Never Dies by Marlene McKenna

    2) A Cancer Battle Plan by Anne Frahm

These are two "testimony" books that will give you some peace and direction in the alternative pursuits.

As for someone with colon mets I cannot think of anyone off hand. I do know a woman (she was in my homeschool support group) whose child had tumors wrapped all around his vital organs so they sent him home from Mayo to die. They could not remove the tumors since they were wrapped around his heart and things. But his mother refused to give up hope and by the grace of God found out about juicing and detoxing and supplements (Prescription for Nutritional Healing by Balch and Balch) and found a doc who would put a tube directly into the boys stomach and they just juiced him and ground up supplements and pumped it directly into his gut. He is alive today over 10 years later and last summer road with Lance in his Ride for the Roses.

I used to have extra copies of her book--Your Child Does Not Have To Die by Leanne Sorteberg--but I cannot find them at the moment.

Anyway---the tumors had sent out tentricles (sp?) like an octopus and after testing, it revealed that they had retracted and the tumors encapsulated and died. They are still in there but they are dead.

    So wanda YOU GO GIRL!!!

Here's your refuel. God has led you on this path and He has a purpose for your life.

This was my verse mantra that I wrote on my bedroom wall above my bed to remind me daily (it became the first of many bible verses I ended up writing on my wall--I had really ugly wall paper that I had planned to tear down but after I wrote my comforting verses all over it I ended up leaving it until we moved!)

"'I will restore you to health and heal your wounds,' declares the Lord." Jeremiah 30:17

Emily, Thanks honey, that was so refreshing! Your an inspiration to me because you made that change and so far your doing wonderful! I'm not going to go the chemo route again. I have made that decision myself. Radiation might need to be a treatment for now, but I'm also seeking nutrition and detox too. Yes, I've prayed for this direction, and I must keep faith that it is right. BIG sigh.... Thanks for the hug! ~ Wanda

Emily...I don't think there's anything else that can be said. You are the icon, the poster child, the Webster's Dictionary illustration, for "alternative treatment inspiration."

Wanda...Jerri and I are with you 100% on this. We are also redirecting all energy to this treatment regimen.

Hiya Wanda...even tho there are no guarantees for any of us there is proof that your faith has a lot to do with how your journey will end up. Emily is that living proof and she has shown us that there is a wealth of hope here on CSN. Lisa(Scouty) is another! Their strength and incredible faith shows us that there are ways to beat this crappy thing. Your choice Wanda must be guided by your faith in what you are doing and how you go about it. Either way alternative medicine and traditional medicine have a place in our fight. We need to trust our individual instincts and embark on a campaign to fight cancer any way we know how.....and our instincts and faith will provide the right path.
Our love to you Wanda......you can prevail....have trust and faith sweetie!

    Wanda honey,

Can you believe we almost talked for 2 hours!!!!!! I have your voice permanently in my brain and heart now, much like some others I love on this board. My goal is to get them all stored in my ole computer brain to tap when I need to hear them. We all get scared and wonder what tomorrow will bring, but we can also trust, love, believe, cry, laugh and pray for daily directions. Our journey is a tough one, but you have to believe in yourself and your body, the one God above gave you.. Just be patient and listen, the rest will follow.

    Big ole Southern Hugs Honey!!!!!!

    Wanda,
Keep up your fight of this terrible disease. You sound like one strong lady. Everyone handles this disease in their own way.

I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers.

    Hi Wanda!

When you do the radiation (if you so decide to do it) please consider eating MISO soup after your treatments. It helps to flush out the radiation. It is a fermented soybean paste that is used in macrobiotics. It was found after Hiroshima that the folks who drank MISO soup after the bomb had fewer cancers from the radiation.
