CT today -- usual nerves

Hi all. I'm going in for my 2-yr post surgery CT scan today. I was feeling OK about it but last night had a little break down (tears, didn't want to take the prep pills - my husband had to treat me like a 2 year old to take them!). It is just such a stressful thing....(not to mention not pleasant). I keep trying to send positive messages to myself ("Hey, in a year, it'll be my 3 year checkup!"). But, I just needed to rant for a while in this safe haven. It's 4:30 am, of course -- the darkest hour. Last Sunday was exactly 2 years since my surgery and I celebrated with my family -- champagne and balloons. But, now I gotta go do the dirty.....

    Hi Tara! I know how you feel. I've never had to take prep pills...just the other chalky contrast that I gag from. I always threaten to add Bailys Irish cream or something. Just kidding of course.Well, your here with us!!! 3 years? That's celebration enough! You've got a right to let it all out sweetie. Cry and rant as much as you want! That's why we are all here.This site is better than any pill you can take to destress...and when you get the good news that you are still in the clear, by golly you better have some champagne for us too! I'll send up a prayer. Love and huggs Wanda

    Our very best for today Tara. By the time you will read this hopefully it will all be over and you can celebrate some more! As for the tears sweetie...yu wanna see 'ol kanga when he goes to pieces...it ain't a pretty sight!!!

    Hi Tara,

    I certainly can identify. It has been a year and a half since my surgery. I had scans done in January and my oncologist will not have more done until next January. He is just checking my CEA which I had done last week. I was a wreck just waiting for that result...which turned our lower than the previous one. Best of luck with your scan... I know you will be all clear. Let us know when you know.

    Tara,

    I haven't heard much from you lately but that does not mean I don't think and pray for you daily. Scout sends her sloppy kisses too. Rub those words STRONG on your bracelet and know we are with you.

    You have helped me out so much in the last year. I'm sending you my very best wishes and positive thoughts your way. I will say a special prayer for you - they've been working! Have a bottle of champagne in the fridge to celebrate another milestone!

    Hey Tara, I know exactly how you feel. Whenever my dad's scans come along, in fact the next ones will be next month, I literally get sick to my stomach.

    I will say a prayer for you today. I'm sure everything will be clean as a whistle!!! Let us know the good news.

    Hi Tara!

    Your CT is all done now!

    At my last set of tests (for my 3 yr) I just layed there and cried...the tears slowly running down my cheeks. The lab tech didn't know what to do with me. She was so nice about it. The tears were that I hated being there so much. I have 5 kids (18,17,15,13,5) and the fact that this is my life now really saddened me. So I completely understand where you're coming from.

    But today they are over and you await the results. I pray they are good ones!! :-)

    Keep us posted.

    Congratulations on your 2 year mark. Excellent.
    Oh so normal to feel nervous before these stupid tests. I suppose we'll be dealing with that all our lives.

    Sending you hugs and prayers.

    So go and celebrate some more when you get the test results back!!

    Thanks all, so much, for your words of support. Means a lot to me. I won't get my results for a while, but at least the test is over. I will certainly share the (good!) results with you all when I hear. Lisa P: yes, I was wearing my bracelet and rubbing the "strong" and thinking of you! Emily: yes, I shed some of those same tears. Bit difficult when you are supposed to be not moving! I "took to my bed" for the rest of the day when it was over - exhausted - but I'm fine today. Cheers, all.
