Blue Nevus

Hi Everyone, I usually post on the colon cancer page. It's been two years since my surgery. I have had two basel cell cancers about 7 or 8 years ago. My dermotologist took a biopsy on a dark freckle on my hand (this freckle was here for years and no other dermatologist was concerned) two weeks ago and the results show I have a blue nevus (no cancer cells). The doctor said about 10% of blue nevus turn into melanoma. What information can you give me. I have an appointment for surgery next month, but I don't want to do it. My husband had a biopsy from the same doctor that came back less than normal and they suggested surgery. The after surgery the results came back no cancer, but now he has a big scar on his arm. He says this doctor just wants to do surgery. How serious is blue nevus. Any advice will be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Arlene

    Thank you both Dana and Arlene. I just used the 800 number because I too, am a colon cancer survivor, but I think that I have skin cancer on my scalp. I have no idea what Blue Nevus is, so I am of no help to you Arlene. But you were both help to me. Arlene, this is concidered a new cancer right? Not part of colon cancer?

    Hi there~

    I think the most important thing about getting a diagnosis from a doctor is to get a second opinion!!! Seven years ago I had a spot checked on my face and was told it was a keloid scar and there was nothing to do, if it was cut off it would just grow back and bigger. Last week it was dianosed as Basal Cell!

    You have the right to a second opinion. Just because the person you are seeing is a doctor and may be educated, does not mean they have all the right answers!!!
