growing pains or something more?...

My son was diagnosed with Wilms when he was 16 months old. He went through chemo and is doing great now. It has been 2 years since his diagnosis. For the past month he has been complaining that his leg hurts. It wakes him up crying in the middle of the night, and sometimes during the day. It is primarily in just his right leg (the same side as his cancerous kidney!) Did anyone else experience this? Does it sound like just "growing pains" or something more? Any opinions would be appreciated. He is now 3 yrs. old.
