Hello,
You may want to consider contacting the American Cancer Society's National Cancer Information Center. Cancer Information Specialists are available 24 hours a day and may be able to assist you by providing resources for you as you go through this process with your mother. They can be reached at 1-800-227-2345.
I hope this information is helpful. You may also be able to find support in the chatroom. You will oftentimes find caregivers in there and also survivors who can provide support to you.
Take care and be well,
Dana

I'm so sorry about your mom. My father died of colon cancer when I was 17. WAY BACK then, they didn't even have any treatment to give him, and we just had to watch him die. Thankfully, from diagnosis until death was only 3 months. Anyway, he didn't die until I gave him permission to die, and until I told him that I would take care of the family. He was in a coma at the time, but I firmly believe that he heard every word because he took his last breaths right after I said that. BUT, this doesn't mean that your mother is going to die. Just be as upbeat and "normal" around her as possible. Perhaps ask her if she wants to talk about the cancer. Reminisce about good times you've had together. If she wants to talk about the cancer, listen. If she wants to make plans, help her. This is all so very difficult, especially since you are so young, but I know you can get through it. So many of us have had to. See if you can find a support group at a hospital - just venting and talking with people who are in a similar situation will be incredibly comforting. I'll pray for you and your mom and hope that all turns out well. Keep us posted.0
