Several messages ago some one said they were receiving a 12 month series of taxotere. Can anyone tell me what this is? I just finished chemo in Dec. and not doing any other kind of treatment. Also, I'm having my 1 visit after chemo with my ongologist in April and he said that I wouldn't need to get a blood count. I think he's nuts!!! I want to know what's going on! What do you think? Thanks

There is a description of taxotere (docetaxel) on the American Cancer Society's main site. What type of chemo did you have? Was it for ovarian cancer? For ovarian, most doctors would do follow-ups every three months for two years, then if everything was going well, would go to every 6 months. A blood count would be done for white & red blood cells. Do you mean a CA-125 level? Ask more questions, and don't panic. I'm sure there's a good reason for their protocol.
