Colon Palooza I revisted
Check out this months newsletter for a wonderful recap of that glorious weekend the end of January written by our own host, Sponger. Other then confusing dacquiris and martinis, he did a fine job summarizing the weekend.
AND by the way, the honeymooners in the room next to mine that first night were named Steve and Gina. Yes, I heard there names a few times that night as...well I won't go there (Jose might bust me for it). I have no idea if the man at my door was naked or not since it was 4AM and I did not have my glasses on, but I did give him a towel "to not surprise anyone". I suspect it could have been a laughable matter, but then again, maybe I shouldn't go there either.
I can not imagine that Vegas will have such lively "entertainment" and really hope to be in a sound proof room.
We are working on the dates and hotel for the next Colon Palooza and please folks consider it. It was a wonderful experience for me and I know it will be for you too.

I noticed that you liked Lance's first book. I recently read his second one "Every Second Counts" and actually liked it more then the first one. Again a very easy read and it is thru his last Tour win so very current (other then mentioning his new love interest, he doesn't mention that even though she was with him last year). They were recently on Oprah and I missed most of the show and hope to catch it on her summer reruns.

BTW, whatsa "Palooza" ? Closest thing I can find in Websters is a Palooka, which is "..an athlete, esp. a boxer lacking in ability or experience.."

I have no idea. I will have to defer that question to our Jeopardy expert, Sponger. If my ole chemo brain remembers correctly, he coined the phrase. Lord knows I couldn't have.
Hope you are well sir!!!!!

OK... for all of you folks who have lived sheltered lives; here's the genesis of the term "Colon-Palooza"... Perhaps you are familiar with the concert series "Lollapalooza" started in 1991 by Chris Farrell. It is a gathering of many top bands, circus acts, the strange and bizarre (definitely sounds like a gathering of semi-colons). Farrell conceived of the Lollapalooza festival in 1990 as a farewell tour for for the band Jane's Addiction. The name Lollapalooza means "something outstanding or unusual"; Farrell heard the word in a Three Stooges short film and liked the sound.
I morphed it a bit to make if Colon-Palooza. I see now that Jamie Fox ("Ray Charles") has STOLEN MY IDEA and is hosting "Jamie Fox's Laffapalooza"... rest assured semi's we're the originals!
Now then... about confusing chocolate daiquiris (however you spell it...) with chocolate martinis. Come on, people, daiquiris are the sweet fruity stuff of legends - NOT martinis (shaken, not stirred, thank you). How could you NOT expect me to confuse the two? Especially afte I had consmed a couple of dirty martinis (no chocolate froo-froo for this sailor)?
Now then, as for Steve & Gina... I do believe I got the names incorrect but I don't believe they will contact CSN and demand an editorial retraction. Heck, Steve may appreciate the fact that his wife won't recognize Gina's name!
As to the naked man at scouty's door at 4 AM. All I can say is, if she needed her glasses to know if he was naked, he has bigger (maybe that's the wrong choice of word) problems to worry about.
I will not take Bud's bait about "being snapped by my own towel"... good try!
Looking forward to Vegas!

Now I feel alttle more at ease knowing the phrase "Palooza", as I thought just a good time by all, Makes sense. And also with my special insight I am Polish, I do beleive that my family, before I was born (of course)Induldged in the Polish Polka Palooza, I just feel it in my heart, Thanks SB for the insight and other general quips of knowledge:spongebob said:OK... for all of you folks who have lived sheltered lives; here's the genesis of the term "Colon-Palooza"... Wisconsin has Paloozas each summer--some are head-bangers and others are Jesus Freaks (I fall into the latter thank you). So Palooza was no mystery to me.spongebob said:OK... for all of you folks who have lived sheltered lives; here's the genesis of the term "Colon-Palooza"...
