I was recently diagnosed,12/17/04 with Colorectal Cancer, single tumor about 2.5cm with Liver Mets, 3 leasions about 1.5cm. I couldn't believe my ears when the Dr. gave me the word. I'm 43 years old, I don't smoke or drink and I exercise regularly. Life is/was good!!! How could this be happening? I soon came to grips with the fact that I do have cancer and I could die from this disease.
Ding, let the fight begin. I look at my cancer like a boxing match. Everytime I complete a round of chemo I consider it a round, so far I have completed 4 rounds with little or no side effects. Last week I had a ct scan done of my abdomen and got some fantstic news, the 3 leasions that were on my liver are no longer visable to a ct scan and the 2.5 cm tumor on my colon is now down to 2.3cm. I'm scheduled for 2 more doses of chemo, then a PetCTScan, and possibly some surgery or more chemo.....
Thanks for listening and I will keep you posted...

I'm glad to of some help, although I've only had 4 rounds of chemo, I've seen some very positive results...My chemotherapy works like this. I get a dose every two weeks, it usaully starts on Monday around 11:30am and goes to about 4:00pm. That day I will receive the antimetic, some kinda of steriod, oxilaplatin, Luceuvorin, and then a big injection of 5fu, and then I'm hooked up with a pump for the next 22 hours, the pump administers more of the 5fu...Tuesday I go back for some more antimetics(Spelling?), some more lucuevorin, and then another big dose of 5fu, and I get the pump for another 22 hours. Sometime on Wednesday a nurse meets me at my office an removes the pump, checks my vitals, and then she's leaves. I have rougly 1.5 weeks to recoup. Fortunatley for me I've had only a few side effects to deal with and I have been cruising right along....themis01 said:your post was very inspirational to me. My mom was diagnosed with recurrent colon cancer in liver and abdomen wall last week. Can you tell me the details of your chemo this far? thanks
I hope this helps and I wish your mother well...0 -
Hi there , my name is Amy, I too DX at 42/43 had part of colon removed, then the 6 mo. of 5-fu and
lucuevorin too, even returned to work all in 9 months, but by Sept, 04 I was having ovary problems, but thank God it was not Overian Ca. But now it is called stage IV re-occurance of colon Ca. Now doing the same as you (almost) I go every 2 weeks one long day w/ like 4 chemos but my Oncologist added Avastin, which is doing wonders! Last CT scan said node was shrinking and my blood levels good, have 3 more treatments, but he wants a PET scan too next month-ish, so all for me looks good, Plus I too haven't had too rough a time w/ chemo, I mean the usual, nausea, Diarreha, fatigue, and all , but I've heard much worse than I, so I feel fortunate & blessed. Nice to chat sorry I got running off too much, well that is this place. Thanks & Best to you, AMY0
