I am not sure if any of you remeber me. I was dx with colon cancer with mets to lungs and liver in August 2002 at the age of 28. I did chemo up until August 2004--had CT scan in September 2004 and everything looked good. Started having nausea and right side pain in January 2005 and went to the Dr. and had a CT scan which showed tumors again in liver,lungs and now adreneal gland and lymph nodes. I have already started back on chemo again but am so afraid that I will not be able to beat it this time. I have to since I have a 3 year old son that I want so much to see him grow. I have been looking at sites on the internet and am now feeling in even more despare. I do not seem to get any answers from my oncologist. He just says that we beat it once and we will try again. Does anyone have any advice,information or anything to help me through this?

    I believe that our children are one of our most powerful medicines to beat cancer. We are driven by nature herself to be there for them; to keep them safe, warm, happy, to teach them. I believe that by focsing on that goal, by keeping a positive outlook, and clearing your mind of all things negative, you will help yourself and help the meds beat the cancer.

    Your doctor is right. You DID beat the dragon once. Obviously your cancer is susceptible (sp? - it's been a long day) to the chemo. Keep at it. Swing that sword! Know that every one of us Semi-colons is here to help you keep it sharp.

    Jenn: if you are not getting answers from your Oncologist, then you need another opinion. Looking on the internet for solutions sets your head spinning..there are so many choices out there it's impossible for one individual to sort it all out. In my opinion, we-(stage IV cancer) have one priority-that's to live long enough to take advantage of whatever cutting edge treatment develops. Since you have already opted for chemotherapy, and if you haven't already done so,
    you might call 1-800-4-CANCER-(1-800-442-6237) and talk to a specialist regarding available trials for your type of cancer. Another source of trial information is Veritas-http://www.veritasmedicine.com/trial/index.cfm?did=5&cid=72576&rfr=vpt There will be some overlap
    between these two sources, but Veritas has the advantage of getting immediate results on line.
    The information you get from these sites will raise more questions, and each trial will usually have a contact person who can answer them.
    On the alternative side, I recommend "An Alternative Medicine Definitive Guide To Cancer"
    by Drs John Diamond,Lee Cowden and Burton Goldberg
    This book is an easy to understand summary of alternative treatments and supplements. Bud

    Advice you ask? Yippee!! I love giving advice. Buy a Champion Juicer (www.discountjuicers.com) and the book A Cancer Battle Plan by Anne Frahm and A Cancer Battle Plan Sourcebook by David Frahm along with the book nanuk recommended. I have the one he told you about. It is very good. I always forget to recommend it--I don't know why--it's really really good.

    people beat cancer with diet and alternatives all the time. I did. I know a kid who did--he was sent home to die from Mayo and his parents juiced him and pumped him full of vitamins and he's alive today 10+ years later.

    Hey Jenn, Sorry about your situation. I know it is very hard not to worry but try to relax a little, it will help you. Our own children are a very powerful aid to survival. I was diagnosed when my kids were 2-1/2 and 4; there was a big chance I would not survive surgery but I did because I was worried about my kids and didn't want to leave them without a mom. My kids are now 20 and 22 and I'm still around, still with cancer (it is very rare) but in a way healthier than before.

    A positive attitude helps a lot too; try not to pay attention to the little stuff. A healthy diet is good for everyone. And faith, in whatever god or superior being you believe in, gives you strength.

    I agree that if you beat it once, you can beat it again! I don't know where you live, but there are a number of major cancer centers across the country and great Physicians at many other hospitals as well. You have to FIND ONE! I went to Dana-Farber in Boston and that was after being treated by the best Doc, Dr. Daniel Dempsy, head of the surgery dept. at Temple U. hospital in Philadelphia. Johns Hopkins has a great reputation as well. I got online and asked for info and that is how I ended up at Dana Farber. All you have to do is call them! Hang in there sweetie. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers. I believe you can conquer this again!

    Hi Jenn, Iam sorry to hear about your situation. Hang in there stay strong and positive, never give up hope. I am on my 3rd Cancer still here still positive. Prayer is strong and positive ,keep the faith you will survive. Livin
