Diagnosed with Renal Cell Cancer in May 2004. I am an Army Reservist and volunteered for a tour in Iraq at that time. My bloodwork from my physical before I deployed came back awful and they eventally found the tumor. Partial Nephrectomy to remove a Grade 3, 6-7 centimeter tumor from my right kidney. For whatever reason I have had a much more difficult time dealing with this lately...as if it's finally "sinking in". From what I have read not many people in their 20's and 30's get this. Would like to chat with someone around my age who has been through this to see if the things I am thinking and feeling are "normal". Friends just keep saying things like "don't dwell on it". They mean well but they simply can't relate to what I (and all of you) feel so I can't really talk to them about it. Hope to hear from some of you soon. Best of luck to everyone on this site. I can be reached at MP1215th@aol.com.

Hi Jack,
I'm 37 years old. I had a partial nephrectomy of the right kidney June 7, 2004. I also had a cyst removed. I know exactly what you mean about mixed feelings. Glad that right now I'm cancer free, but always worrying that it could come back anytime, anywhere. How are you doing now?

Irishjack,I was diagnosed with cancer of my left kidney in oct.03 at age 42.I had blood in my urine which showed up suddenly and was very obvious.Radical nephrectomy 11/10/03 was successful. My tumor stage was T1 and confined to my kidney.I was a lucky man indeed! Then came the mental stage that just came out of the blue.Which I was unprepared for.It was the most trying time of the whole event. But it made me search for more info and educate myself about kidney cancer.Your cancer cell type has a lot to do with propagation so find that out! And early detection is very important if the cancer returns so stay on top of everything that has to do with kidney cancer. You will benefit for years and years!!0
